Senior Telecommunications System Engineer

The OmniLocate project determines and provides high-accuracy geo-location of cellular subscribers based on standard and non-standard specifications. The geo-location is determined across GSM, UMTS, LTE, and 5G NR mobile networks. Our product sits inside the mobile core network, interacting with various network nodes utilizing 3GPP specified protocols. Full stack development for standard-based geo-location is supported, encompassing transport and application protocols. The platform also involves non-standard data collection techniques and integrates with Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, and UI products for advanced analytics of geo-location information.

Role & Responsibilities

·        Translate complex 3GPP Location Based Services (LBS) standard specifications into detailed Functional and Interface Specifications for the engineering design and development teams.

·        Translate broad product requirements (both functional and non-functional) into actionable system architectures and interface definitions.

·        Guide and mentor design team members to ensure the development of scalable, robust, and manageable implementations.

·        Write and maintain comprehensive functional specifications and interface control documents.

·        Develop scripts and lightweight applications to transform, parse, and analyze various types of telecommunications data sets at scale.

·        Act as the technical bridge supporting the Development, Quality Assurance (QA), and Operations teams throughout the complete product lifecycle.

Tech Stack & Core Technologies

3GPP Architecture, GSM/UMTS/LTE/5G NR, Core Network Protocols (MAP, Diameter, SS7, HTTP/2 SBA), Positioning Protocols (RRLP, LPP, NRPPa, SUPL), Big Data & Streaming (Kafka, Spark), ML/AI pipelines.

Required Qualifications (Must Have)

·        8-10+ years of total industry experience, with at least 2+ years dedicated specifically to a System Engineering or System Architecture role.

·        Deep expertise in 3GPP specifications.

·        Deep expertise in mobile network architecture, including Core Network and Radio Access Network (RAN).

·        Strong hands-on experience with mobile network signaling protocols (e.g., Mobile Application Part [MAP], Diameter, SS7, HTTP/2 Service Based Architecture [SBA], RRLP, LPP, NR Positioning Protocol A [NRPPa], SUPL).

·        Proven experience in requirement gathering, understanding customer needs, and managing product specifications in a standalone capacity for complete products.

·        Demonstrated ability to develop interface specifications collaboratively with cross-functional technical teams.

·        Excellent documentation, technical writing, and presentation skills.

·        Good spoken and written English.

Education & Misc. Requirements

·        Graduate or Post Graduate degree in Engineering from a reputable institute. Post Graduate preferred.

·        Preferred Branches: Computer Science, Electronics, Communications, or Telecommunications.

·        Willingness to travel outside India as required.

Desirable Skills (Good to Have)

·        Deep knowledge of Location Based Services (LBS) architectures.

·        Familiarity with 3GPP2 and Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) Specifications.

·        Familiarity with Big Data architectures and streaming data pipelines (e.g., Apache Kafka, Apache Spark) to support ML/AI integrations.

·        Experience with telecom Operations and Maintenance (O&M) procedures.
