Own documentation for one or more product areas and ensure content remains accurate, scalable, and aligned with product releases.
Write and maintain API documentation including API reference guides, developer onboarding guides, workflows, integration documentation, and feature documentation.
Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and easy-to-understand content for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, QA, and Support teams to gather, validate, and externalize technical information.
Identify documentation gaps and proactively drive improvements to the overall documentation experience.
Define, develop, and maintain documentation standards, templates, style guides, terminology conventions, and review processes.
Participate in peer reviews to maintain consistency in structure, terminology, formatting, and tone across all documentation assets.
Review content created by developers, Technical Leads, and Technical Project Managers and suggest improvements for clarity, completeness, and usability.
Use AI-powered writing and copy review tools to assist with proofreading, grammar correction, readability improvements, summarization, terminology consistency, and content optimization while ensuring technical accuracy.
Leverage generative AI tools to accelerate drafting, restructuring, reviewing, and maintaining documentation workflows responsibly and efficiently.
Supplement documentation with sample code, diagrams, workflows, tutorials, FAQs, videos, and developer-focused learning assets.
Create and maintain multimedia and visual documentation artifacts such as process schematics, flow diagrams, instructional videos, and developer walkthroughs.
Contribute to improving documentation development processes, release documentation workflows, and content governance practices.
Mentor junior writers and contribute to raising documentation quality standards across the team.
Requirements
3+ years of experience in technical writing for software products, APIs, SaaS platforms, or developer-focused products.
Experience using API documentation tools such as Swagger, Stoplight.io, Postman, or similar platforms.
Good understanding of REST APIs, API lifecycle concepts, and developer documentation practices.
Experience working with Markdown and docs-as-code workflows.
Experience using Git for version control and asynchronous collaboration across distributed teams.
Familiarity with AI-powered writing, proofreading, and content review tools such as ChatGPT, Grammarly, Microsoft Copilot, or similar AI-assisted platforms.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to understand complex technical systems and simplify them for different user personas.
Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with engineers, architects, product managers, and stakeholders.
Experience creating multiple documentation types including API references, conceptual documentation, procedural guides, tutorials, release notes, and technical graphics.
Good understanding of documentation governance, review workflows, terminology management, and style guide enforcement.
Ability to manage multiple projects, tight timelines, and evolving priorities in fast-paced environments.
Strong proofreading, editing, and content quality review capabilities.
Ability to validate AI-generated suggestions and ensure contextual and technical correctness.
