Technical Writer AWS Competency & Cloud Documentation
About Marketeering
Marketeering is a specialist marketing and GTM partner for cloud companies.
We help AWS and Azure partners get listed, found, and funded through marketplace listings, competencies, service validations, and campaign execution.
We're now building a small core team that deeply understands both technical documentation and AWS programs.
Role Overview
We're looking for a Technical Writer who lives at the intersection of cloud, DevOps/architecture and clear, structured documentation.
Your primary responsibility will be to create, refine, and review documents required for AWS programs especially Competencies, Service Delivery/Service Ready, and other AWS validations. You will work closely with our founder, solution architects, and client teams to turn complex implementations into crisp, audit-ready documentation that matches AWS standards.
If you enjoy turning messy technical inputs into clean, evidence-backed documents, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities
Own AWS Documentation Workstreams
Draft, edit, and standardize documents required for:
AWS Competencies
Service Delivery / Service Ready validations
FTR (Foundational Technical Review) support docs
Case studies, implementation write-ups, architecture narratives, and SOPs.
Create Clear, Structured Technical Docs
Convert raw inputs (call notes, architecture diagrams, Jira tickets, emails) into:
Customer case studies aligned to AWS templates
Detailed implementation descriptions
Architecture overviews and solution blueprints
Runbooks / process docs where needed.
Align with AWS Guidelines
Review AWS documentation requirements and checklists.
Ensure every submission meets AWS format, depth, and evidence expectations.
Document Review & Quality Control
Review documents prepared by other team members or client teams.
Check for:
Technical accuracy
Clarity and structure
Consistency of terminology
Alignment with AWS wording and positioning.
Collaboration & Research
Work directly with founders, PMs, architects, and client engineering teams.
Ask the right questions to fill gaps in technical stories and evidence.
Research AWS services, reference architectures, and best practices when needed.
Template & Process Building
Help us build reusable templates for competencies, case studies, and validations.
Contribute to internal documentation standards and style guides.
Must-Have Skills & Experience
25 years of experience in technical writing for software / cloud / SaaS companies.
Strong understanding of at least one of these areas:
AWS / cloud infrastructure
DevOps / CI/CD
Application modernization / microservices / containerization
Prior experience writing any of the following:
Technical implementation documents
Architecture / design documents
Product / platform documentation
Customer case studies or solution briefs with technical depth.
Ability to:
Read and interpret architecture diagrams (AWS, Kubernetes, microservices, etc.)
Interview engineers / architects and convert conversations into structured documentation
Write in clear, concise, and neutral language suitable for audits and program reviews.
Strong command of written English structure, flow, formatting, and attention to detail.
Comfortable working remotely, managing your own deadlines, and handling multiple projects.
Good-to-Have (Bonus)
Hands-on experience with AWS (certifications, real projects, or strong self-learning).
Prior exposure to AWS Partner Network (APN), Competencies, Service Delivery, or FTR documentation.
Experience working with global SaaS / cloud companies.
Familiarity with tools like Confluence, Notion, Jira, Google Docs, Lucidchart / Draw.io, etc.
What You'll Get
Opportunity to work at the core of AWS GTM & Competency projects for multiple cloud clients.
Direct exposure to AWS partner programs, marketplace GTM, and real customer architectures.
Close collaboration with founders (not a big, slow org).
Freedom to improve templates, processes, and documentation standards from day one.
