Job Description

A senior technical writer creates and maintains high-quality, user-friendly

documentation for complex software products, working with minimal supervision

and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. They translate complex

technical information into clear, accessible content for various audiences, from end-

users to developers.

Responsibilities:

Content Creation & Maintenance: Develop, organize, and maintain various documentation types, including user manuals, API documentation, installation guides, release notes, regulatory and quality certification process, and online help.

Information Gathering: Proactively collaborate with engineers, developers, product managers, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather technical information, understand product functionality, and ensure documentation accuracy.

Content Strategy & Standards: Establish and maintain documentation standards, style guides, and templates, ensuring consistency across all content and media (e.g., text, diagrams, and videos).

Project Management: Plan, schedule, and track documentation projects to meet product release cycles and deadlines, often managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Quality Assurance & User Experience (UX): Review and edit content for clarity, accuracy, and completeness. Act as a voice of the customer & gathering user feedback to improve content usability and refine the overall user experience.

Process Improvement: Contribute to evolving documentation workflows and best practices, potentially evaluating and implementing new tools and technologies (e.g., content management systems, Docs-as-Code workflows).

Documentation Support: Provide documentation support for regulatory and quality certification process

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Experience: Typically 5+ years of proven experience in technical writing, specifically documenting software products, APIs, or developer tools.

Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), Agile/Scrum methodologies, and the ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and new technologies.

Writing & Communication: Superb written and verbal communication skills, with an excellent command of grammar and an acute attention to detail.

Tools Proficiency: Experience with documentation tools and platforms such as Confluence, MadCap Flare, GitBook, or custom CMS solutions. Familiarity with markup languages (Markdown, HTML, XML) and version control systems (Git) is often required.

Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also being an effective, collaborative team player is essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Computer Science, or a related field.

Knowledge of programming languages and the ability to read code.

Experience with analytics tools for measuring documentation performance and impact.

A portfolio of work/writing samples.
