Role: Senior Technical Lead / Technical Product Owner
Experience required: 7+ Years
Location: Remote
Work schedule: Monday to Friday ( 9AM to 6PM IST)
About The Role
We are looking for a
Senior Technical Lead / Technical Product Owner who can operate across software development, automation, architecture, and DevOps. This is a highly autonomous, hands-on technical leadership role. The successful candidate will not simply receive technical tickets and execute them—they will be responsible for determining how product and technology roadmap should be delivered. The role will act as the technical counterpart to the Product Owner/Strategist. While the Product Owner determines
what should be built and
why, the Technical Lead will determine
how it should be built, what technology should be used, and how the solution should be designed for scalability, reliability, and maintainability. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable writing production code, building low-code/no-code automations, managing infrastructure, reviewing architecture, and challenging technical assumptions when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Architecture
- Own the technical architecture and evolution of Waka Campa's technology ecosystem.
- Translate product requirements and business objectives into practical technical solutions.
- Assess different approaches and recommend the most appropriate technology, architecture, and implementation strategy.
- Make day-to-day technical decisions independently, escalating major architectural or strategic decisions for review and approval.
- Prepare technical plans, solution designs, development approaches, and implementation roadmaps for review.
- Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, maintainable, and commercially sensible.
- Identify technical debt and proactively recommend improvements.
- Establish development standards, coding practices, documentation, and technical processes.
- Act as the senior technical voice in product and technology discussions.
Software Development
- Develop and maintain applications, integrations, APIs, automation workflows, and internal tools.
- Work across traditional software development as well as low-code/no-code platforms.
- Select the appropriate development approach based on the problem rather than defaulting to either traditional coding or no-code tools.
- Build integrations between internal systems and third-party platforms.
- Develop solutions that progressively reduce Waka Campa's dependency on legacy or third-party systems.
- Conduct code reviews and maintain development quality standards.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and identify root causes.
- Ensure new functionality is properly tested and documented before deployment.
Low-Code / No-Code Development & Automation
- Design and implement business process automations using platforms such as n8n and GoHighLevel.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive operational and administrative processes.
- Connect systems, APIs, databases, and third-party services through automation workflows.
- Determine when a low-code/no-code solution is appropriate and when a custom-coded solution is required.
- Continuously improve existing automations for reliability, performance, and scalability.
DevOps & Infrastructure
- Take ownership of Waka Campa's core DevOps responsibilities, with support from an existing offshore engineer.
- Manage and improve development, staging, and production environments.
- Establish and maintain CI/CD processes.
- Manage deployments, releases, monitoring, backups, and system reliability.
- Implement appropriate security, access control, and infrastructure practices.
- Monitor system performance and proactively address reliability or scalability issues.
- Establish appropriate logging, alerting, and incident response processes.
- Work with the existing offshore engineer to delegate technical tasks and maintain operational continuity.
- Help establish a robust DevOps foundation as the technology environment grows.
Product & Technical Planning
- Work closely with the Product Owner/Strategist to understand business priorities, customer requirements, and market opportunities.
- Translate product objectives into technical requirements and implementation plans.
- Break larger initiatives into manageable technical deliverables.
- Provide realistic technical estimates, dependencies, risks, and implementation timelines.
- Challenge requirements where appropriate and identify simpler, more scalable, or cost-effective alternatives.
- Ensure the technical execution remains aligned with the broader product strategy.
Systems & Technology Development
The Current Technology Ecosystem Includes
- Rentalcarmanager - Current rental management platform, with a longer-term objective of progressively replacing or reducing reliance on it.
- n8n - Workflow automation and integrations.
- GoHighLevel - CRM, marketing, and customer workflow management.
- Claude - AI-assisted development and productivity.
- Notion - Documentation and knowledge management.
- Figma - Product and UI/UX design.
- Webflow - Website development and management.
- GitHub - Source control and development workflows.
- Slack - Team communication.
- Trello - Project and task management.
The candidate does not need to be an expert in every platform above but should be highly adaptable and capable of quickly understanding and integrating new technologies.
Required Skills & Experience
- 7+ years of experience in software engineering, technical leadership, solutions architecture, or a closely related field.
- Strong experience with both traditional software development and low-code/no-code development.
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing APIs and third-party integrations.
- Strong understanding of software architecture and system design.
- Hands-on DevOps experience, including deployment, CI/CD, infrastructure, monitoring, and system reliability.
- Experience working with Git/GitHub and modern software development workflows.
- Strong understanding of cloud-based applications and distributed systems.
- Experience with workflow automation platforms, preferably n8n or similar.
- Ability to evaluate technologies and select the right tool for a particular business problem.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Experience working independently in a remote or distributed environment.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to explain complex technical decisions clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with n8n, GoHighLevel, Webflow, Figma, Notion, GitHub, or similar platforms.
- Experience integrating rental, booking, CRM, payment, or travel-related systems.
- Experience replacing legacy platforms with custom-built applications.
- Experience building SaaS products or internal business platforms.
- Experience working with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude.
- Experience managing or mentoring offshore developers or technical teams.
- Experience working in a startup, scale-up, or rapidly evolving technology environment.
- Strong understanding of automation and API-first architecture.
Working Style
This Role Requires Someone Who Is
- Highly autonomous - Comfortable making technical decisions without constant direction.
- Commercially minded - Understands that the best technical solution is not always the most complex one.
- Hands-on - Willing to code, configure systems, troubleshoot infrastructure, and build automations.
- Strategic - Able to think beyond individual features and consider the broader technology ecosystem.
- Pragmatic - Knows when to build, buy, integrate, or automate.
- Curious and adaptable - Comfortable learning new platforms and technologies quickly.
- Collaborative - Able to work closely with the Product Owner and offshore engineering support.
- Quality-focused - Takes ownership of reliability, security, maintainability, and technical standards.
