About The Role
We are hiring a
Senior Technical Architect / Python Lead to drive architecture, development, and delivery of secure, enterprise-grade web applications built on Azure. The role is deeply hands-on, focused on high-quality engineering, system reliability, and guiding a mid-sized backend team. You will work on complex, long-lived products with end-to-end ownership, while collaborating closely with stakeholders across architecture, DevOps, and frontend engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and technically guide a team of 45 Python developers through design, debugging, architecture, and delivery.
- Own 6080% of the backend codebase across modules and services.
- Enforce engineering best practices: clean code, maintainability, code reviews, TDD, security hygiene.
- Support frontend teams by debugging JavaScript/React issues and unblocking integration challenges.
Hands-On Backend Engineering
- Architect, build, and optimize backend systems using Python, Flask, and FastAPI.
- Design, develop, and maintain REST APIs, including bi-directional integrations with third-party systems.
- Deliver production-ready, scalable services with concurrent workloads, data consistency, and enterprise-grade reliability.
- Drive incident resolution, performance tuning, and operational readiness.
Azure Cloud Engineering
- Deploy and manage applications using Azure Web Apps, Function Apps, Logic Apps, Blob Storage, and cloud databases.
- Set up secure networking, routing, VNETs, environment variables, secrets, and role-based access.
- Own CI/CD processes and ensure secure, repeatable deployment pipelines.
Database Ownership
- Design schemas, write optimized queries, manage migrations, and handle DB administration tasks.
- Troubleshoot DB locks, connection issues, performance degradation, and indexing strategy for PostgreSQL/MySQL.
Security & Compliance
- Identify, triage, and remediate SAST/DAST findings (e.g., SonarCloud).
- Implement encryption standards, secure credential handling, and API hardening.
- Drive security reviews and ensure adherence to enterprise risk and compliance requirements.
Must-Have Qualifications
- 5+ years of uninterrupted, recent Python backend development (dated Python experience does not qualify).
- Delivered 56 production-grade web applications in the past 23 years.
- 2+ years leading a team of 45 developers.
- Strong experience with Flask/FastAPI, API integrations, and backend architecture.
- Azure experience with Web Apps, Functions, Blobs, Logic Apps, networking, secrets, and distributed deployments.
- Hands-on database skills: schema design, performance tuning, query optimization.
- Strong debugging capability across Python, JS, React, and infrastructure layers.
- Solid understanding of enterprise security, concurrency, and operational readiness.
