About CFOAF

CFOAF is a high-level tax strategy and advisory firm serving U.S. business owners generating $3M–$25M+ annually. The firm focuses on proactive tax strategy and precise execution rather than basic compliance. Clients expect a high level of accuracy, consistency, and strategic alignment across all returns.

Role Overview

We are hiring a Senior Tax Reviewer who operates at a manager level and thinks beyond preparation. This role is responsible for reviewing U.S. tax returns with a focus on accuracy, completeness, and correct implementation of tax strategies before final U.S. review.

This is not a checklist-based role. The ideal candidate identifies inconsistencies, questions assumptions, and ensures that strategy intent is properly reflected in the return.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review complex U.S. tax returns including 1040s (all schedules), 1120S, 1065, and 1120
  • Review multi-entity structures and flow-through relationships
  • Perform detailed prior-year comparison analysis to identify missing income, structural changes, and unexplained variances
  • Reconcile financial statements, supporting documents, and tax return outputs
  • Validate that tax strategies have been correctly implemented, including elections, deductions, entity structuring, and timing strategies
  • Identify partial or incorrect implementation of strategies
  • Detect inconsistencies, omissions, and misclassifications
  • Prepare clear, structured review notes outlining issues, impact, and recommended next steps
Required Experience

  • 6–10+ years of U.S. tax experience
  • Proven experience reviewing tax returns, not just preparing them
  • Strong experience with complex 1040s and all schedules
  • Strong experience with 1120S, 1065, and 1120 returns
  • Experience working with multi-entity structures
  • Exposure to tax planning or strategy implementation
Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking ability
  • Ability to identify inconsistencies and missing elements
  • Understanding of how tax strategies should appear in completed returns
  • Clear and concise written communication
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and make judgment calls

  • Compensation

    • $25–$40 USD
    • Higher compensation available for candidates with proven manager-level review capability

    Application Process

    • Resume submission
    • Written screening responses
    • Interview process
    • Technical test project
