About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Systems Operations Engineer


In this role, you will:

  • Lead or participate in managing all installed systems and infrastructure within the Systems Operations functional area

  • Contribute in increasing system efficiencies and lowering the human intervention time on related tasks

  • Review and analyze moderately complex operational support systems, application software, and system management tools to ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability

  • Work with vendors and other technical personnel for problem resolution

  • Lead team to meet technical deliverables while leveraging solid understanding of technical process controls or standards

  • Collaborate with vendors and other technical personnel to resolve technical issues and achieve highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability


Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Systems Engineering, Technology Architecture experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • Own and manage 24x7 production operations for mission-critical platforms ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance.

  • Provide operational support for Databases (Oracle/MySQL/PostgreSQL/NoSQL) including performance tuning, backup, recovery, and troubleshooting.

  • Support and maintain Big Data platforms including Hadoop ecosystem components (HDFS, YARN, Hive, Spark, Kafka).

  • Implement and follow SRE best practices such as SLIs, SLOs, SLAs, error budgets, and incident management.

  • Design, develop, and maintain automation solutions to reduce manual efforts using scripting and orchestration tools (Python, Shell, Ansible, etc.).

  • Manage and schedule workloads using AutoSys, ensuring reliability and adherence to business SLAs.

  • Configure and monitor systems using Observability and Monitoring tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, ELK, AppDynamics, Datadog, etc.).

  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for major incidents and drive preventive actions.

  • Collaborate with application, development, infrastructure, and security teams for seamless operations.

  • Participate in on-call rotations, release management, change management, and disaster recovery drills.

  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to operational excellence and process improvements.

Desired Experience:

  • Strong experience in Systems Operations / SRE / Production Support roles.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Databases (RDBMS & NoSQL).

  • Solid understanding of Big Data and Hadoop concepts and production support.

  • Experience implementing SRE principles and managing large-scale distributed systems.

  • Proven automation mindset with scripting and infrastructure automation experience.

  • Hands-on experience with AutoSys job scheduling and enterprise workload management.

  • Strong expertise in Monitoring, Observability, and Alerting tools.

  • Experience with Linux/Unix system administration.

  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.


    Job Expectations:

    • Cloud platform experience (AWS/Azure/GCP)

    • Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration

    • CI/CD exposure (Jenkins, Git, etc.)

    • ITIL certification or operational excellence background
