About the role
We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to own the definition, standardization, and deployment readiness of our edge-based CCTV platform deployed on vessels. This role focuses on hardware and software integration, deployment repeatability, customer onboarding, lifecycle management, and readiness for scale.
The Systems Engineer will help transition our solution from custom deployments into a standardized, productized platform that can scale efficiently.
This role is hardware and deployment-focused, and is NOT a DevOps position.
Platform, cloud, and application runtime ownership remains with Engineering and DevOps teams, and is not part of the responsibility of the System Engineers team.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, standardize, and automate deployment, commissioning, and validation processes to improve scalability, repeatability, and operational readiness
- Define and evolve reference architectures for vessel and edge deployment
- Own hardware certification, lifecycle management, and refresh strategies.
- Design and implement scalable customer onboarding workflows and tooling for vessel readiness.
- Partner with field, support, and onboarding teams to reduce deployment friction and improve time to go live.
- Own and operate a hardware lab for testing, benchmarking, and certification
- Evaluate hardware performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
- Improve scalability, repeatability, and operational readiness of deployment.
Required Experience
- 5+ years in hardware-centric platform, systems, or deployment engineering for edge or vessel-like environments
- Ownership of reference architectures and end-to-end deployment processes, including standardization, commissioning, and validation
- Strong ability to evaluate and manage hardware across compute, GPUs, cameras, storage, and networking, with focus on performance, reliability, cost, and lifecycle
- Hands-on experience operating hardware labs for testing, benchmarking, certification, and qualification
- Proven track record deploying and operating software platforms on physical edge hardware, including Kubernetes and containerized workloads on bare metal
- Deep Linux administration and networking expertise for constrained and remote environments
- Experience building deployment, commissioning, and validation automation using Python and Shell
- Familiarity with video systems and standards (RTSP, ONVIF, NVR)
