Job Description

THE PERSON:

You will have strong written and verbal communication skills and a systematic approach to your job. A team player, you are used to delivering results in a fast-paced environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform diagnostics, electrical fault isolation, and failure analysis across PCIe accelerator cards, FPGA-based boards, DPUs, SmartNICs, and server platforms, from system-level interactions down to component-level root cause identification involving electrical, functional, power, signal integrity, and high-speed interface failures.
  • Lead customer return (RMA) investigations end-to-end, from initial screening and failure reproduction through deep-dive fault isolation, root cause determination, and corrective action recommendations.
  • Replicate customer hardware, software, and application environments to reproduce failures, validate fixes, and support root cause investigations in a lab setup.
  • Analyze and debug interactions between hardware, firmware, drivers, operating systems, and platform infrastructure to identify failure mechanisms and performance-impacting issues.
  • Collaborate closely with design, firmware, validation, silicon, manufacturing, quality, and field support teams to drive resolution of complex customer and product issues.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance diagnostic workflows, test methodologies, automation tools, and debug scripts to improve diagnostic accuracy, efficiency, and turnaround time.
  • Publish 8D reports, root cause analysis findings, and diagnostic methodologies, and share knowledge across global engineering teams.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong capability in board-level fault isolation, including the use of schematics, board layouts, BOMs, datasheets, and design documentation to drive accurate diagnosis and correlate failures with potential root causes.
  • Extensive hands-on experience debugging PCIe-based hardware platforms, including power delivery, clocking architectures, high-speed SERDES interfaces, controllers, switches, retimers, redrivers, PHY devices, memory interfaces, board management functions, and other critical system components.
  • Ability to identify and isolate opens, shorts, marginal solder joints, assembly defects, passive component failures, and intermittent hardware issues.
  • Hands-on experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, curve tracers, source measurement units (SMUs), soldering rework equipment, and other electronic diagnostic instrumentation.
  • Deep knowledge of PCIe Gen4/5/6 architecture, protocol fundamentals, enumeration, link training, debugging methodology, and high-speed interconnect technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with iBERT or equivalent SerDes validation and debug platforms for high-speed interface characterization, link bring-up, and fault isolation.
  • Proficient in Linux environments (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL), including system administration, networking, log analysis, and diagnostic utilities.
  • Experience with Bash and/or Python scripting for diagnostic automation and workflow improvement is a plus.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in related discipline preferred
