Role Overview:
We are looking for mid-level Linux Engineers to provide Level 2 support for our Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) LEAPP upgrade process. These engineers will troubleshoot upgrade failures and assist Level 1 teams in resolving issues related to automation, agents, and system configurations. The role requires a solid understanding of Linux systems and the ability to take a systematic approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate and resolve upgrade failures during the RHEL LEAPP process.
- Troubleshoot issues related to:
- Ansible automation (playbooks, roles, workflows).
- Pre- and post-upgrade tasks (agent installation, mount validation).
- System configurations impacting upgrade success.
- Identify root causes of automation failures (Ansible, Python scripts, shell scripts).
- Validate post-upgrade system state (e.g., mounts, services, agents).
- Collaborate with Level-1 engineers, providing guidance and escalation support.
- Document troubleshooting steps and contribute to process improvements.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Linux Administration:
- Strong knowledge of RHEL systems and common services.
- Familiarity with OS upgrades and lifecycle management.
- Automation & Scripting:
- Working knowledge of Ansible and ability to troubleshoot playbooks.
- Basic to intermediate Python and shell scripting for debugging.
- System-Level Troubleshooting:
- Ability to diagnose issues across networking, storage, and configuration layers.
- Problem-Solving:
- Analytical mindset with a systematic approach to identifying root causes.
- Communication:
- Clear and professional interaction with support teams and stakeholders.
- Preferred:
- Exposure to Ansible Automation Platform (AAP).
- Experience with enterprise environments and agent-based tools.
Soft Skills:
- Customer-focused and team-oriented.
- Ability to learn and adapt quickly.
- Comfortable mentoring Level-1 engineers when needed.
