About Fusie Engineers
Fusie Engineers is a growing engineering consultancy delivering structural and installation engineering solutions to the offshore, maritime and heavy engineering sectors. Our work involves complex steel structures, lifting systems, seafastening, and transport engineering governed by international standards.
We are strengthening our structural analysis capability and are looking for a Senior Structural Engineer who thinks from first principles and values rigorous engineering over software dependency.
The Role
The role requires strong analytical capability and structured engineering thinking. The focus is not on operating software alone, but on understanding the mechanics behind every result.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing structural concepts and defining clear load paths from first principles
- Performing hand calculations for strength, stability, buckling and fatigue before validating through FEM tools
- Carrying out detailed structural analysis using tools such as RFEM, ANSYS, STAAD or similar platforms
- Designing steel members, connections and support systems in accordance with relevant standards
- Reviewing calculation notes, models and drawings for technical accuracy and constructability
- Guiding junior engineers by explaining the reasoning behind engineering decisions
- Interfacing with drafting teams to ensure that calculations translate into fabrication-ready drawings
- Supporting discussions with clients and third-party verification bodies when required
Projects may involve offshore and maritime structures, lifting systems, heavy frames, industrial steelwork and similar applications. Engineers from allied industries such as bridges, cranes, plants or heavy machinery are encouraged to apply. Strong fundamentals transfer well into offshore and maritime engineering.
What We Are Looking For
- Degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering
- 37 years of experience in structural steel design and analysis
- Strong foundation in strength of materials, structural mechanics and stability theory
- Demonstrated ability to perform hand calculations independently
- Clear understanding of load combinations, safety factors and design philosophy
- Ability to critically question results rather than accept software output at face value
- Structured, logical thinking and the ability to communicate technical reasoning clearly
What We Offer
- Exposure to technically demanding offshore and heavy engineering projects
- Direct involvement in engineering decisions and technical discussions
- A performance-driven environment that values depth of knowledge and accountability
- Opportunity to grow into technical leadership roles as the company expands
If you are a structural engineer who values clarity of thought, analytical depth and technical ownership, we would like to hear from you.
