Overview
ISS is looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join our team. As a Senior Systems Engineer you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and administrating Storage, NAS, S3 and Backup systems. You will serve as the subject matter expert alongside a team responsible for managing windows and Linux environments. This includes identifying opportunities for the use of technology to improve business efficiency, performing system implementation, and providing support for server and storage environments. The selected candidate will work on a variety of projects, both independently and in teams.
Responsibilities
- Design, architect, configure, deploy, upgrade and support various storage platforms with a focus on Isilon/Powerscale and Rubrik backup.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot storage/backup systems and other IT related technologies.
- Ensure systems are monitored relevant to capacity, performance, and utilization.
- Create and maintain documentation to include logical and physical diagrams, best practices, how to's, and other technical engineering documents.
- Assist in policy and process creation for data retention and disaster recovery.
- Consistently demonstrate initiative and commitment to optimizing systems and processes.
- Self-motivated to learn new technologies and manage multiple projects.
- Be part of a team. Share knowledge. Mentor. Be open, honest, and have a positive attitude.
- Incident support and participate in an on-call rotation with teammates to provide reliable 24 x 7 x 365 support to production systems.
- Availability to work occasional nights and weekends to deal with outages and maintenance windows.

Qualification
- 5 - 10 years of experience in an IT corporate environment, with at least 5 years as an enterprise-level Systems Administrator or better.
- Hands on engineering experience with Isilon/Power scale, Pure, and other storage technologies and concepts.
- Experience with SAN, NAS, iSCSI and NFS storage implementations
- Experience with capacity planning and sizing storage and backup environments
- Experience in performance tuning and optimizing storage and backup environments.
- Experience with data center migrations and storage replication technologies
- Working knowledge in windows and Linux administration.
- Experience in scripting and automation; interest in efficiency.
- Experience with Cisco UCS/ HPE Synergy Servers, VMware vCenter Server and vSphere, Minio and AWS S3 Object Storage.
- Understanding of high availability concepts with practical experience and implementation of key components in storage environment.
- Understanding of fundamental hardware concepts: disk, memory, CPU, NIC, HBA, firmware, RAID, performance concepts (I/O, paging, swapping, system calls), Fiber Channel, Ethernet.
- Self-motivated and should have the desire and ability to own problems and solve them.
- Ability to document complex systems to various levels of support/administration.
- Deep understanding and experience troubleshooting and resolving complex system issues.
- Effective oral and written communication skills. Must be able to clearly communicate status and urgency.
- Ability to assess urgency and escalate accordingly.
- Strong collaborative attitude and ability to work in a team environment.
We offer a hybrid work schedule of 3 days in office and 2 days work from home.
