Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience programming in C++.
- 5 years of experience with design and architecture; and testing/launching software products.
- Experience in data analytics pipelines/SQL pipelines.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
- Experience applying Machine Learning (ML) models to data quality problems such as deduplication or anomaly detection.
- Experience with large-scale distributed data infrastructure.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and help bootstrap new product areas from 0 to 1.

As an Uber Tech lead for this team, you will set the long-term technical goal and build observability systems to connect data quality improvements directly to business metrics.The Geo team is focused on building the most accurate, comprehensive, and useful maps for our users, through products like Maps, Earth, Street View, Google Maps Platform, and more. Every month, more than a billion people rely on Maps services to explore the world and navigate their daily lives.
The Geo team also enables developers to use the power of Google Maps platforms to enhance their apps and websites. As they plot a course for the future of mapping, they are solving complex computer science problems, designing beautiful and intuitive product experiences, and improving our understanding of the real world.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership on high-impact projects. Set the long-term technical goal, strategy and lead the team to execute multi-quarter roadmaps.
- Influence and coach a distributed team of engineers. Leverage developer AI tools to accelerate the software development lifecycle and improve engineering velocity.
- Facilitate alignment and clarity across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines. Collaborate with cross-functional partners and application teams to define data quality frameworks, establish developer feedback loops, and implement consistent data governance policies.
- Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. Lead the team to Design and develop infrastructure for continuous learning loops, capturing and processing interaction telemetry to drive real-time data optimizations.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance large-scale software solutions. Apply machine learning and algorithmic solutions to recognize patterns in how our products and services are used in key customer journeys.
