Senior Staff Frontend Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for aSenior Staff Frontend Engineerto providetechnical leadership at a platform and org-wide levelfor our Marketplace experience. This role goes beyond owning a single team's frontend - you will shapefrontend architecture, standards, and long-term technical directionfor Marketplace initiatives that support internal SKUs today and third-party integrations in the future.

This is ahands-on, high-impact IC rolewith broad influence. You'll work across Marketplace, Platform, Backend, Product, and Design teams to ensure we build scalable, high-performance, and reliable user experiences that support business growth and long-term extensibility.

What You'll Do

• Own and evolve thefrontend architecturefor the Marketplace platform, ensuring scalability, performance, and long-term maintainability.
• Lead complex frontend initiatives that spanmultiple teams and services(catalog, checkout, integrations, admin tooling).
• Define and drivefrontend engineering standardsacross Marketplace (architecture patterns, performance, accessibility, testing).
• Partner closely with Backend and Platform teams onAPI design, contracts, and system boundaries.
• Act as a technical advisor to Product and Design, helping shape solutions early and balancing user experience with engineering trade-offs.
• Mentor and guide Staff and Senior engineers throughdesign reviews, code reviews, and technical mentorship.
• Identify systemic frontend bottlenecks and proactively drive improvements that increase team velocity and platform reliability.
• Represent frontend concerns incross-org technical discussionsand influence decisions beyond Marketplace.

What We're Looking For

• 10+ yearsof professional frontend engineering experience in product-focused environments.
• Deep expertise inmodern JavaScript/TypeScriptand frontend frameworks such asReact(or equivalent).
• Proven experience owninglarge-scale frontend architecturesacross multiple teams or domains.
• Strong background in buildingshared component libraries, design systems, or platform-level frontend tooling.
• Hands-on experience withfrontend performance optimization(e.g., Web Vitals, bundle optimization, rendering strategies).
• Demonstrated ability to influence technical directionwithout direct authority.
• Comfortable operating in ambiguity and setting direction where none exists.

Nice to Have

• Experience withmarketplace, e-commerce, or transactional platforms.
• Exposure tomicrofrontend architecturesand frontend platformization.
• Familiarity withcloud-native backendsand distributed systems.
• Experience working inobservability, DevOps, or platform engineering ecosystems.
• Prior experience acting as across-team technical leaderat scale.
