Role: Senior Staff Engineer (Founding Team)
Work Arrangement: Work from Home
Location: India
Schedule: Night shift
Job description:
Key Responsibilities:
Ten-plus years of professional software development. The founding weight of the role, the 2–5 year commitment, and the breadth of year-one ownership do not fit a less
experienced engineer.
Production Azure architecture you can walk through. You have personally architected and shipped at least one production system end-to-end on Azure. App Service or
Container Apps, Functions, Azure SQL or Cosmos DB, AI Search, Entra ID, Key Vault, Bicep or Terraform. You can name the services you chose, the trade-offs you made, what failed, and what you did. Certifications without a system behind them are not signal.
Shipped production AI. Not a hackathon project. A real system, with real users, that you
took from design through production and lived with. You know prompt engineering, RAG pipelines, function calling, context management, and basic evaluation patterns from
practice, not from reading about them.
End-to-end ownership across the layers. You work across frontend, API, data, and infrastructure. Breadth across all of it, real depth in at least one. You write the code, you
write the CI/CD pipeline, you write the infrastructure-as-code modules for what you ship, you own the observability and the on-call. Engineers who hand off to a platform team, an SRE team, or an ops team are not a fit. M&S does not have those teams.
Ownership under ambiguity. Year one is largely unspecified. You will be handed vague problems and asked to turn them into shipped systems. You make calls where the
requirement is fuzzy, the vendor docs are wrong, and leadership cannot make the technical decision for you. You make pragmatic decisions and stand behind them. You will be wrong sometimes, and you recover. You do not wait for direction you are not going to get.
Written-first communication. Most work is async with US Central. Clear writing about technical decisions, trade-offs, and risks matters more than verbal polish.
Commitment. This is a 2–5 year role. The integration work, the firm context, and the team-building all compound. Resume-padding engineers will not produce what this seat
requires.
Background in CPA, accounting, professional services, or legal/financial-services ERP integration is a significant advantage. So is experience defining technical standards, documentation, and engineering culture from scratch. So is an appetite to step into mentorship and technical leadership as the team grows. None of those replace the floors
above.
