Role Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Sourcing specialist to join our client in Gujarat.
Job Title: Senior Manager Strategic Sourcing (Speciality chemicals or Commodity)
Reporting To: Chief Sourcing Officer
Location: Head Quarter Vadodara, Gujarat
Job Purpose:
To lead and institutionalise strategic sourcing across global and domestic markets, ensuring material supply continuity, cost leadership, risk mitigation, and long-term supplier partnerships that support the company's growth in chemical distribution, exports, and value-added offerings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and execute company-wide sourcing strategy aligned with business growth, margin objectives, and market expansion plans
- Develop product-wise and geography-wise sourcing strategies for commodity, specialty, and niche chemicals
- Drive long-term contracts, formula-based pricing, and strategic alliances to reduce volatility and improve predictability
- Identify, qualify, and on-board new domestic and international suppliers
- Lead structured supplier evaluation, approval, and performance management
(cost, quality, delivery, compliance, ESG)
- Build and sustain strategic supplier partnerships beyond transactional relationships
- Ensure supplier governance, ethical sourcing, and compliance with regulatory standards
- Establish robust market intelligence mechanisms for price trends, capacity shifts, feedstock movements, and geopolitical risks
- Take timely and informed buying positions to optimize margins and inventory
- Conduct order and contract risk reviews to balance riskreturn objectives
- Design alternate sourcing and contingency strategies to ensure business continuity
- Drive inventory efficiency, aging reduction, and liquidation of slow/non-moving stock
- Align sourcing decisions with sales forecasts and demand planning
- Optimize working capital through effective payable terms and supplier negotiations
- Ensure primary-level quality evaluation of products and suppliers
- Work closely with QA, regulatory, and logistics teams to meet customer, statutory, and export compliance requirements
Qualification:
- Educational Background: Post Graduate in Chemistry / Science and MBA (Supply Chain / Operations / Marketing preferred)
- Professional Experience: Over 8 + years of progressive Sourcing experience into Chemical distribution, trading, or manufacturing and/or Commodity & specialty chemicals and/or Contract manufacturing / tolling arrangements.
