Business Entity Kaplan Australia Department IT
Job Title
Senior Solutions Architect
Location
India (Offshore)
Reports To
Head of AI (Australia)
Overall Purpose
The Senior Solutions Architect (India Offshore) is responsible for designing and overseeing the implementation of artificial intelligence solutions for Kaplan Australia and leading delivery execution through an India-based engineering pod.
This role requires a strong technical background, hands-on experience designing system architectures, and the ability to translate Australian business requirements into scalable, high-performance solutions. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the role leads solution design for complex AI initiatives while also providing day-to-day technical leadership for the India pod to support Kaplan Australia's AI roadmap and delivery pipeline. Reporting to the Head of AI, the role provides day-to-day leadership for the offshore pod to ensure coordinated execution across design and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
1. Analysis and Solution Design
• Design enterprise-grade architecture solutions for AI products that address scalability, reliability, cost optimisation, and integration with existing platforms and systems.
• Own solution design across multiple technology domains, ensuring architectural coherence and technical integrity.
• Define data architectural patterns and standards that can be reused across multiple AI products or initiatives.
• Guide teams from proof-of-concept through to production, ensuring designs mature appropriately to meet operational, performance, and supportability requirements. • Proactively identify architectural risks or limitations and recommend alternative approaches or trade-offs.
2. Offshore Pod Technical Leadership (Day-to-day Oversight)
• Play a dual role, providing end-to-end architectural leadership while also leading the offshore India delivery pod (Data Engineer, QA Engineer and Full Stack Software Engineer). • Establish a clear point of accountability across solution design and delivery, ensuring alignment between architecture, implementation, and outcomes.
• Provide day-to-day leadership for the India pod including work planning, iteration execution, prioritisation, and delivery tracking in collaboration with the Australia-based AI team and

stakeholders.
• Ensure quality and delivery standards are met through effective engineering practices (definition of done, code reviews, testing strategy, release readiness) and by removing blockers. • Support recruitment activities for the India pod as required and ensure smooth onboarding with clear ways of working aligned to Kaplan Australia delivery expectations.
3. Information Security and Compliance
• Design AI solutions using security-by-design principles incorporating responsible and ethical AI considerations into solution designs, ensuring appropriate controls for data access, identity management, model protection, and infrastructure security.
• Ensure AI architectures comply with enterprise security policies, data governance standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Identify, assess, and communicate security, compliance, and operational risks associated with AI solutions, recommending pragmatic mitigations.
• Work closely with security, risk, and governance teams to align AI solutions with enterprise assurance and approval processes.
4. Process Documentation
• Create and maintain clear, structured architectural documentation, including system designs, data flows, integration patterns, and non-functional requirements.
• Produce solution artefacts such as architecture diagrams, reference architectures, and design rationales that support both delivery and governance.
• Document key architectural decisions, assumptions, constraints, and trade-offs, ensuring transparency and traceability.
• Ensure documentation is fit-for-purpose—detailed enough to support delivery and operations, but pragmatic and aligned with agile delivery practices.
5. Stakeholder Engagement
• Facilitate architecture and solution discussions across cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, and operations.
• Actively connect with global AI and technology teams to share knowledge, learn from comparable use cases and solution patterns, and leverage proven approaches to accelerate the deployment of similar AI solutions across regions.
• Present solution designs, architectural options, and trade-offs to mixed audiences, adapting communication style to ensure clarity and alignment.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance during delivery, helping teams resolve design challenges and make informed decisions.
• Influence stakeholders by articulating the business value, risks, and implications of AI architectural choices.
