About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Solution Engineer to play an active role in the design, development, integration, and delivery of business application solutions.
You will work within a diverse technology landscape comprising custom-built applications, SaaS platforms, and third-party solutions, supporting both Front Office (Investments & Sales) and Corporate functions.
This is a hands-on engineering position covering the complete solution lifecycle - from solution design and technical decision-making through development, integration, testing, deployment, and production support.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality business applications using Java and/or Python.
- Contribute actively to solution design and architectural discussions with solution architects and senior engineers.
- Translate business requirements into practical, scalable, and maintainable technical solutions and specifications.
- Design, build, and integrate REST APIs, services, and data pipelines connecting internal applications with SaaS and external platforms.
- Configure, extend, and integrate SaaS and third-party solutions using vendor APIs, webhooks, connectors, and middleware.
- Take ownership of individual application components, features, and integration workflows from design through implementation.
- Develop and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to ensure application quality, stability, and reliability.
- Work with relational databases and SQL for application development and system integration.
- Deploy and operate applications within AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud environments.
- Participate in CI/CD, release, deployment, and production support activities.
- Troubleshoot software defects, integration failures, and production incidents and contribute to root-cause analysis.
- Improve existing applications through code refactoring, technical-debt reduction, performance optimisation, and design improvements.
- Collaborate closely with solution architects, product owners, engineers, business stakeholders, and external technology providers.
- Participate in Agile delivery activities including sprint planning, stand-ups, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
- Apply secure coding, data protection, compliance, and operational best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and the development of reusable components and common integration patterns.
- Collaborate effectively with geographically distributed teams across multiple locations and time zones.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of professional software engineering or application development experience.
- Strong hands-on application development experience within financial services, banking, investment management, asset management, private markets, or a similar regulated financial environment is mandatory.
- Strong hands-on programming experience in Java and/or Python.
- Strong experience designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise application and system integration.
- Practical experience integrating SaaS and third-party/vendor platforms using APIs, webhooks, connectors, or middleware.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
- Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform - AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, deployment, and modern DevOps practices.
- Proven ability to contribute meaningfully to solution design and technical design decisions, including articulating technical trade-offs.
- Experience across the complete software development lifecycle, including design, development, integration, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Good understanding of secure coding, application security, data protection, and security-by-design principles.
- Experience troubleshooting software defects, integration failures, and production incidents.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfortable working with globally distributed teams.
Good to Have
- Experience developing applications supporting investment, portfolio management, trading, sales, or other Front Office financial services functions.
- Exposure to modern cloud data platforms such as Snowflake or Databricks.
- Familiarity with OpenAPI specifications, event-driven architectures, and modern integration patterns.
- Experience with observability and monitoring technologies such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog.
- Experience producing technical design documents, integration specifications, architecture diagrams, and other technical documentation.
- Exposure to AI-assisted software engineering tools and practices.
