About Team:
Enterprise Returns is a core division within Walmart Global Tech that powers omni-channel returns across all Walmart platforms. The team builds large-scale, real-time, configurable, and extensible systems that enable Returns as a Service, allowing customers to return any item through any channel while ensuring fast refunds and maximizing value for Walmart and its partners.
What you'll do:
Design, develop, and review scalable backend systems that operate at Walmart scale
Build and enhance high-performing, resilient, and distributed systems for returns platforms
Collaborate with architects and engineering teams to learn and apply best practices in scalability, performance, and system design
Work closely with business and product teams to design solutions aligned with real-world use cases
Gain hands-on experience in building sophisticated, large-scale systems across multiple Walmart business units
Leverage open-source technologies and public cloud platforms to develop modern solutions
Contribute to innovation initiatives and present ideas across broader engineering groups
Mentor and support team members while fostering a strong engineering culture
What you'll bring:
B.E/B.Tech/M.Tech/MS in Computer Science or related field
6+ years of experience in Java/J2EE, distributed databases, and Kafka with strong hands-on experience in multi-threading and functional programming
Experience building and working with large-scale distributed systems
Strong computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and problem-solving
Solid debugging and troubleshooting skills
Knowledge of SDLC best practices including coding standards, code reviews, CI/CD, testing, and operations
Hands-on experience with microservices architecture, cloud technologies, and modern backend systems
Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate technical solutions effectively
Creative thinking and ability to contribute to product and UX improvements
Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, GCP, or OpenStack
Continuous learning mindset with focus on improving, optimizing, and automating systems
Exposure to information retrieval, statistics, or machine learning is a plus
