SENIOR, SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Job Description Summary:

Responsible for coding, unit testing, building high performance and scalable applications that meet the needs of millions of Walmart-International customers, in the areas of supply chain management & Customer experience.

About Team:

This role is part of the Walmart Global Marketplace team, focusing on the Seller Onboarding journey. Marketplace is a strategic pillar for Walmart eCommerce, empowering third-party sellers to manage items, fulfill orders, and navigate diverse seller journeys. The Onboarding team is dedicated to enabling new sellers to join the platform and participate in exclusive programs. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in accelerating our Seller Onboarding roadmap and ensuring a seamless onboarding experience for an expanding seller base.

What You'll Do:

Technical Leadership: Take ownership of end-to-end technical solutions, driving architectural decisions and influencing system design across multiple domains. Mentor and guide engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

Solution Development: Architect, design, build, and deploy scalable, resilient solutions at Walmart scale, impacting millions of customers and thousands of sellers. Lead technical deep-dives and proactively identify opportunities for optimization.

Evaluations: Lead Proof of Concept (POC) and Proof of Technology (POT) initiatives, evaluating emerging technologies and frameworks for adoption.

Mentorship: Provide technical mentorship and coaching to engineers at all levels, enhancing team deliverables by assessing risks, overcoming challenges, and offering actionable guidance.

Solution Design: Develop and recommend solution design options, balancing requirements, standards, and infrastructure constraints. Drive design reviews and ensure alignment with Walmart's architectural vision.

Stakeholder Communication: Communicate and present complex technical solutions to stakeholders, influencing decision-making and building consensus across teams.

Feature Delivery: Serve as the technical lead for major feature delivery, ensuring high-quality, timely releases and cross-team collaboration.

System Monitoring: Define, review, and improve KPIs, monitoring, and alarms to ensure robust, reliable production systems.

What you'll bring:

Relevant Experience: 6+ years of relevant experience in backend development using Java Spring Boot, YAML, Git, automated testing, cloud technologies, and Kubernetes.

Technical Expertise: Deep proficiency in architecture, design, development, and technical reviews of distributed systems.

Walmart Scale: Demonstrated experience designing and implementing solutions at Walmart's scale, with a track record of delivering business-critical systems.

Community Engagement: Actively engage with Walmart's community of architects and engineers, sharing knowledge and driving adoption of best practices.

Scalable Solutions: Proven hands-on experience designing and delivering scalable, high-performance solutions in complex environments.

Development Experience: Advanced proficiency in developing sophisticated, scalable, and high-performing backend systems.

Open-Source Technologies: Expertise in leveraging open-source technologies and public cloud platforms. Mentor engineers, present technical concepts to large groups, and foster a culture of innovation and autonomy.

Educational Background: Engineering Degree (B.E/B.Tech/M.Tech/MS) in any stream, preferably Computer Science.

Mandatory Skills: Strong understanding of CS fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and problem-solving. Advanced proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, cloud (Azure), Kubernetes, CI/CD, and test automation.

Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire engineering teams, drive technical initiatives, and influence without authority.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Experience working with Product, UX, and Data teams, demonstrating broad influence and partnership across functions.
