---- What the Candidate Will Do ----

1. Design scalable data models that balance immutability, freshness, accuracy, cost, and security, while supporting evolving upstream sources, new downstream use cases (e.g., AI agents), and global expansion.
2. Design and build highly available, low-latency data systems leveraging technologies such as Apache Pinot, Apache Kafka, and Uber's Real-Time Aggregator (RTA).
3. Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and data teams to define technical strategy and deliver solutions that translate complex business needs into robust, scalable architectures.
4. Lead system design discussions, code reviews, and enforce engineering best practices, ensuring code quality and maintainability.
5. Drive operational excellence through automation, comprehensive monitoring, and effective on-call practices.

---- Basic Qualifications ----

1. 5+ years of software engineering experience in data models, backend systems, distributed computing, or data infrastructure.
2. Proficiency in at least one backend language such as Java, Go, or Scala.
3. Strong hands-on experience with real-time and batch data technologies like Apache Kafka, Apache Pinot, Flink, Spark or similar.
4. Proven ability to design and implement scalable APIs, data feeds, and data services
5. Experience with performance tuning and operating large-scale, multi-tenant systems.

---- Preferred Qualifications ----

1. Experience building and scaling product-facing data platforms or analytics systems.
2. Familiarity with data modeling for reporting and visualization.
3. Domain experience in food delivery, logistics, or mobility is a bonus.
