Senior Software Engineer - RPG development

• Design, develop, test, and maintain RPG-based applications on IBM i platforms.

• Lead enhancements and bug-fixes in Contract Order Management Systems (COMS), with deep understanding of customer account management, order entry, order fulfillment, billing, and returns modules.

• Translate business requirements into high-quality, scalable, secure, and maintainable code.

• Work collaboratively with Product Owners, QA, and multiple application and infrastructure teams located in USA and India to deliver end-to-end OMS solutions.

• Conduct root cause analysis and performance tuning of the applications.

• Modernize legacy RPG code (e.g., RPG III to RPG IV/ILE/Free Format) where necessary.

• Create and maintain technical documentation, including code reviews and release notes.

• Comply with Change Management, PCI, PII, SOX policies and best practices.

• Provide technical mentorship to junior developers.

• 4-7 years of experience in RPG development, including RPG IV, RPG ILE, and Free Format RPG.

• Strong hands-on experience with IBM i (AS/400, iSeries) platforms.

• Deep understanding of Order Management business processes.

• Proficiency in CL, DDS, DB2/400, SQL and service programs/modules.

• Solid experience with EDI, APIs, and integrations between RPG-based and external systems.

• Proven track record in performance tuning and troubleshooting RPG applications.

• Ability to work independently and drive development in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong communication skills and experience working with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with modernization tools like Visual Studio Code, RDi, Implementer, APIs, web services on IBM i, and AI.

• JAVA, Sterling OMS, Cloud (Azure, GCP), Microservices, EDA, DevOPS, CICD, ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence, Snowflake, Power BI, Copilot, Python.

• Familiarity with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)/Scrum/Kanban frameworks.

• Exposure to e-Commerce, Retail, Logistics domains.
