Role Summary
Our Digital and eCommerce division is undergoing a major transformation, evolving the core technology engine to enable growth and innovation at scale. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and enhancing components and features of our globally deployed cloud-based B2B platform. This platform powers multiple eCommerce websites and digital sales channels, delivering a seamless scientific product discovery and purchase experience to customers worldwide.
You will contribute to building a modern, scalable architecture embracing microservices and event-driven principles, while mentoring peers and driving engineering excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Software Development & Engineering
- Develop high-quality, maintainable, and scalable software in Java, using best practices and modern design principles.
- Build RESTful APIs and microservices that are part of a distributed system.
- Implement robust unit testing and participate in continuous code reviews.
- Collaborate with Product Owners to break down features and epics into executable user stories.
- Work in an Agile development environment, taking end-to-end ownership of service design, implementation, and operations.
Leadership & Mentorship
- Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance through code and design reviews.
- Promote a culture of learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Technical Vision & Collaboration
- Collaborate with cross-functional global teams to design and deliver high-impact features.
- Contribute to the evolution of the platform architecture towards event-driven and cloud-native systems.
