About the role:

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Java Spring Boot microservices, Redis, Oracle, and cloud-native development on GCP and is comfortable navigating complex distributed systems with minimal guidance. You are someone who takes ownership from design to deployment, thrives in ambiguity, and holds yourself to a high standard. Beyond technical depth, you bring a modern engineering mindset: you actively leverage AI coding assistants like Claude to ship faster, debug smarter, and explore solutions more effectively. You will collaborate with a cross-functional team to build, scale, and support high-performance backend systems that power our core platform.

In This Role, You Will:

• Design and deliver scalable, resilient backend services using Java Spring Boot, applying service decomposition, REST-based inter-service communication, and resilience patterns across distributed systems.
• Leverage Redis for high-performance caching, session management, and distributed data patterns including pub/sub, sorted sets, and TTL strategies.
• Develop and optimize Oracle Database schemas, queries, and performance tuning strategies to support mission-critical data workloads.
• Architect and deploy cloud-native solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), ensuring reliability, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
• Actively use AI coding assistants (such as Claude by Anthropic) as part of your daily workflow — accelerating development, assisting with debugging, generating tests, and exploring implementation approaches faster.
• Champion strong engineering ownership — independently driving features from initial design through production release with minimal oversight.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and containerized services, ensuring smooth, predictable delivery cadences.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues across cloud-hosted distributed services, applying strong systems thinking and root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and fellow engineers to uphold high standards of code quality, architecture, and operational excellence.
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement — participating in code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing across the team.

Here's What You Need:

Primary Skills:

• 5+ years of backend development experience
• Strong expertise in Java Spring Boot for building distributed microservices — including service decomposition, inter-service communication (REST), and resilience patterns
• Hands-on experience with Redis for caching, session management, and distributed data patterns (pub/sub, sorted sets, TTL strategies)
• Proficiency with Oracle Database — schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and cloud-native architectures
• Hands-on experience with Claude (Anthropic) or comparable AI coding assistants — using them to accelerate development, debug code, and explore solutions faster
• Familiarity with agentic development workflows — AI-assisted code review, test generation, or documentation — as part of a modern engineering productivity stack
• Experience building scalable, high-performance backend systems
• Strong understanding of software design principles, data structures, and distributed systems
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and containerization
• Strong ownership mindset — able to independently drive features from design to production

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, or Terraform
• Familiarity with event-driven architecture and messaging systems (e.g. Kafka, Pub/Sub)
• Experience with observability and monitoring tools (e.g. Datadog, Cloud Monitoring)
• Exposure to agile development methodologies
• Experience building or integrating LLM-powered features, AI pipelines, or developer tooling new
• Familiarity with enterprise application servers — WebLogic and Tomcat — including deployment, configuration, and performance tuning in production environments
