Founded in mid-2020 at Harvard Business School, we have 400+ customers across tech, professional services, manufacturing, and finance to deliver engaging video content & digital events.

AI at Cvent: Leading the Future

Are you ready to shape the future of work at the intersection of human expertise and AI innovation At Cvent, we're committed to continuous learning and adaptationAI isn't just a tool for us, it's part of our DNA. We're looking for candidates who are eager to evolve alongside technology. If you love to experiment boldly, share your discoveries, and help define best practices for AI-augmented work, you'll thrive here. Our team values professionals who thoughtfully integrate AI into their daily work, delivering exceptional results while relying on the human judgment and creativity that drive real innovation.

Throughout our interview process, you'll have the chance to demonstrate how you use AI to learn, iterate, and amplify your impact. If you're excited to be part of a team that's leading the way in AI-powered collaboration, we'd love to meet you.

As a Senior Software Engineer II specializing in video editing frameworks, you'll lead our effort to build a frame-perfect, multi-track video editor in the browser, combining Remotion for UX and WebCodecs/WASM for low-level video processing. You will extend Remotion's React layer for UX to enable professional-grade editing features (precise cuts, real-time previews, GPU-accelerated effects) while navigating browser limitations.

  • Lead the architecture and development a frame-perfect browser-based video editing framework (supporting cuts, transitions, and multi-track compositing).
  • Design and implement real-time previews using WebGL, OffscreenCanvas, or WebCodecs that mirror final rendering pixel-perfectly.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize rendering pipelines, with particular attention to input latency and animation fluidity
  • Integrate WebAssembly (WASM) for performance-critical tasks such as frame-accurate video decoding, image processing and audio syncing.
  • Design the timeline core (playhead scrubbing, layer stacking, non-destructive edits).
  • Architect a component system on top of Remotion to bypass its limitations for core video processing.
  • Develop tools to measure and enforce frame-perfect exports (e.g., automated diffing between preview and render).
  • Solve browser-specific challenges (memory limits, GPU acceleration, audio/video sync drift).
  • Collaborate with design and product teams to create intuitive video editing experiences
  • Mentor other engineers on browser media APIs and performance optimization.
  • 7+ years of frontend engineering experience with at least 2+ years in video/audio processing on the browser.
  • Deep expertise in browser media APIs: WebCodecs, Web Audio, MediaStream, Canvas.
  • Experience with frame-accurate video manipulation (e.g., FFmpeg.wasm, custom WebCodecs pipelines).
  • Proven ability to optimize JavaScript/WebAssembly performance (e.g., reducing input latency, smoothing animations).
  • Experience pushing Remotion or similar frameworks beyond its limits for performance critical tasks. e.g., replacing with WebCodecs, optimizing for multi-track editing.
  • Experience building browser-based media editing or processing tools
  • Shipped WASM-based video/audio tools to production (e.g., FFmpeg.wasm, Rust/C++ for WebAssembly).
  • Experience with GPU acceleration and hardware-accelerated graphics in browser environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with WebGL/Canvas optimizations for real-time video previews.
  • Knowledge of video codecs (H.264, VP9) and compression algorithms and browser encoding limitations.
  • Experience working with HLS, WebRTC & FFmpeg.
  • Deep understanding of performance challenges in browser environments (e.g., garbage collection pauses, GPU memory leaks)
  • Experience with WebGL-based motion graphics (e.g., shaders for transitions, GPU-accelerated text animations).
  • Familiarity with rendering loops, frame timing, and smooth animation techniques
  • Built developer tools for performance profiling (e.g., frame timings, memory snapshots).

This Role Isn't a Fit If You

  • Prefer working with stable APIs (we're pioneering uncharted browser capabilities).
  • Haven't debugged frame drops or audio drift in a media app.

What We Offer

  • Greenfield opportunity to define the architecture of a bleeding-edge browser video stack.
  • Work with rare expertise (WebCodecs, WASM, Remotion internals) at scale.
  • Opportunity to work with a best-in-class product, engineering, and design team
  • An incredible culture blending innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence
  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Hybrid work environment
