Role: Senior Software Engineer II - ServiceNow Vulnerability Response
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer II – ServiceNow Vulnerability Response to join our engineering team. This role is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supporting solutions within the ServiceNow Security Operations (SecOps) platform, with a primary focus on the Vulnerability Response application.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in ServiceNow development, vulnerability management processes, integrations with enterprise security tools, and workflow automation. This position partners closely with Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, DevOps, and Application teams to streamline vulnerability remediation and improve organizational security posture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, configure, and maintain ServiceNow Vulnerability Response solutions.
- Implement scalable workflows and automation to support the enterprise vulnerability management lifecycle.
- Integrate ServiceNow with vulnerability scanners and security platforms such as Tenable, Qualys, Rapid7, Microsoft Defender, and other security tools using REST APIs, IntegrationHub, MID Servers, and web services.
- Develop custom applications, Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, UI Policies, Flow Designer workflows, and Catalog Items.
- Configure and maintain ServiceNow Security Operations modules, including Vulnerability Response.
- Collaborate with Cybersecurity teams to prioritize vulnerabilities using risk-based methodologies.
- Support CMDB data quality and ensure accurate Configuration Item (CI) mapping for vulnerability records.
- Build dashboards, reports, and performance analytics to monitor remediation metrics and SLA compliance.
- Troubleshoot platform issues, optimize system performance, and implement best practices.
- Participate in architecture reviews and provide technical leadership on ServiceNow platform enhancements.
- Mentor junior engineers and perform code reviews to ensure quality, maintainability, and adherence to development standards.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and release management activities.
- Maintain technical documentation, system designs, and operational procedures.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of software engineering or ServiceNow development experience.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience developing within the ServiceNow platform.
- 3+ years of experience implementing and supporting ServiceNow Vulnerability Response or Security Operations applications.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript, ServiceNow APIs, Script Includes, Business Rules, Client Scripts, UI Actions, and Flow Designer.
- Experience integrating ServiceNow with enterprise vulnerability management tools.
- Solid understanding of REST/SOAP APIs, JSON, XML, and web service integrations.
- Experience working with CMDB, Discovery, and Configuration Management.
- Strong understanding of vulnerability management frameworks and remediation workflows.
- Familiarity with large language models (LLMs)and their practical application in software engineering.
- Experience using AI to automate repetitive engineering tasks and improve software delivery.
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)
- ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD)
- ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist – Vulnerability Response
- ITIL Foundation Certification
- Security certifications such as Security+, CISSP, or GIAC certifications
- Experience with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Familiarity with DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, Git, and automation frameworks
