Role Title: Senior Software Engineer II
Position Summary:
Marriott has over a dozen Salesforce orgs, including one of the largest Salesforce implementations by number of users with the Empower platform used by over 100,000 associates across Hotels, Customer Engagement Centers, Sales and Bonvoy Program teams. We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Salesforce Configuration Engineer with 2+ years of experience to support and enhance our Salesforce platform. This role is ideal for someone who excels in declarative development, understands business processes, and is passionate about delivering efficient, scalable solutions through configuration and automation.
Job Responsibilities:
- Configure and maintain Salesforce features including standard/custom objects, page layouts, record types, validation rules, and profiles/permission sets.
- Design and implement automation using Lightning Flows, Process Builder, and Workflow Rules to streamline business operations.
- Build and manage reports and dashboards to support data-driven decision-making across teams.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective Salesforce configurations.
- Support data management activities including imports, exports, deduplication, and data quality monitoring.
- Assist in managing sandbox environments and deploying configuration changes across environments.
- Ensure platform security and compliance by applying appropriate access controls and sharing rules.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning, retrospectives, and backlog grooming.
- Stay up to date with Salesforce releases and recommend enhancements aligned with platform capabilities.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES:
Technical Leadership:
- Trains and/or mentors other team members, and peers as appropriate.
- Provides financial input on department or project budgets, capital expenditures or other cost/resource estimates as requested.
- Identifies opportunities to enhance the service delivery processes.
Delivering Technology:
- Performs more complex quantitative and qualitative analyses for service delivery processes and projects.
- Facilitates achievement of expected deliverables and obligations of Services Providers.
- Validates completeness of requirements prior to Service Provider solutioning.
- Ensures all projects follow the defined development and business case processes.
- Ensures proper coordination with appropriate IT and vendor relations teams.
- Provides consultation for routine and complex systems development.
- Coordinates with Operations and Infrastructure Delivery teams for deployment and production support activities.
IT Governance:
- Follows all defined technology standards and processes (IT Governance, SM&G, Architecture, etc...).
- Provides input for improvements to the appropriate process owners as needed.
- Maintains a proper balance between business and operational risk.
- Follows the defined project management standards and processes.
Service Provider Management:
- Validates that Service Providers develop and manage respective aspects of a project plan (e.g., schedules, deliverables, metrics).
- Makes short term plans for the team to effectively utilize resources.
- Monitors Service Provider outcomes.
- Reviews estimates of work effort for client projects provided by Service Providers for accuracy.
- Facilitates timely resolution of service delivery problems and minimizes the impact on clients.
Skill and Experience:
- 6+ years of experience in Salesforce configuration and administration.
- Strong proficiency in declarative tools including Lightning App Builder, Flows, Process Builder, and Validation Rules.
- Familiarity with Salesforce security model, including roles, profiles, permission sets, and sharing rules.
- Experience with report and dashboard creation for various business units.
- Understanding of data management best practices within Salesforce.
- Exposure to Agile methodologies and collaboration tools such as JIRA.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience/certifications.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with a customer-focused mindset.
Preferred:
- Salesforce developer/architect/admin certifications are pluses.
- Experience in development of hotel property applications.
- Leadership experience in a sourced environment.
Education and Certifications:
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent experience/certification.
