Role: Senior Software Engineer II

Role Overview:
- Marriott International is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer II to design and build scalable, responsive, and high-performance web applications.
- This role focuses on creating modern UI experiences using React, JavaScript/TypeScript, and component-based architecture, supporting global digital platforms and customer-facing experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Frontend Development:
- Design, develop, and maintain modern web applications and UI components.
- Build reusable, scalable components using React and JavaScript frameworks.
- Ensure cross-browser compatibility and responsive design across devices.
Component & Design Systems:
- Develop and maintain reusable UI component libraries
- Implement consistent design patterns and standards across applications.
- Collaborate with design teams (Figma/UX) to translate designs into production-ready code.
Performance & Optimization:
- Optimize applications for speed, scalability, and performance
- Implement techniques like lazy loading, code splitting, and efficient rendering
- Improve page performance and user experience across high-traffic platforms
Integration & API Consumption:
- Integrate frontend applications with backend services via REST or GraphQL APIs
- Handle state management and data flow efficiently (e.g., Redux, Context API)
Collaboration:
- Partner with backend, AEM, QA, and product teams to deliver end-to-end solutions
- Participate in Agile development processes (sprint planning, code reviews, retrospectives)
- Work with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver features aligned with business goals
Quality & Standards:
- Ensure code quality through reviews, testing, and adherence to standards
- Support accessibility (WCAG), SEO, and internationalization requirements
- Maintain documentation and contribute to engineering best practices
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
- 5-7+ years of frontend development experience
- Strong expertise in:
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with ReactJS.
- Experience with Next.js (preferred).
- Strong understanding of the Atomic Design methodology.
- Proficiency in JavaScript; TypeScript knowledge is a plus.
- Strong skills in HTML5 and CSS3.
- Experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) is desirable.
- Basic knowledge of Java is a plus.
- Experience building component-based UI architectures
- Experience integrating with APIs and backend services
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with:
- Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) or CMS-based integrations
- Design systems and shared component libraries
- Modern frontend tooling (Webpack, Vite, etc.)
- Figma UX Design Tool
- Familiarity with:
- Accessibility (WCAG) and performance optimization
- Multi-language / global site implementations
Soft Skills:
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Mentoring junior developers and driving best practices
