Role Title: Senior Software Engineer II

Job Summary:

Marriott has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer on the Data Governance team. This role is part of the team focused on building out our data governance platform. Appropriate candidates have a passion for data, data governance, and emerging technologies with a vision for building next generation capabilities and a strong drive for success.

We are looking for a highly skilled Software Engineer with master data management development expertise along with backend software development.

You will play a key role in architecting scalable systems, mentoring junior engineers, and driving best practices across development and operations.

The ideal candidate will have deep experience developing in Stibo Systems, working knowledge of AWS services, and keen to learn and expand into other areas of data governance (data catalog, data quality, data lineage, etc.).

Key Responsibilities:

  • 6+ years of experience.
  • Performs complex quantitative and qualitative analyses for service delivery processes and projects.
  • Design, develop, and maintain key datasets in Stibo Systems.
  • Implement authentication, authorization, and secure data handling practices
  • Ensure code quality, testing, and performance optimization
  • Coordinates with Application Delivery and Infrastructure teams for deployment and production support activities
  • Perform technical troubleshooting when needed.
  • Create technical documentation
  • Provide consultation for routine and complex systems development

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Advanced proficiency in Stibo Systems and all its features (e.g., workflow development, business rules, data quality, entities & collections, web-UI configuration, OIEP/IIEP integrations)
  • Expert-level SQL skills (complex queries, optimization, database design)
  • Proficiency in Java and JavaScript, REST APIs.
  • Working knowledge of AWS ecosystem (S3, EKS, EMR, Lambda, and more)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and system design capabilities
  • Experience leading and mentoring more junior software engineers

Nice to Have / Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with ETL data processing
  • Understanding of microservices architecture
  • Experience with using Snowflake database
  • Experience with Airflow workflow orchestration
  • Experience with event-driven architecture (Kafka, SQS, SNS)
  • Exposure to ML pipelines or data engineering workflows
  • Proficiency in Git-based version control workflows
  • Knowledge of security best practices in cloud environments
  • Undergraduate/bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.
