Lifecycle Management
Terraform allows you to use infrastructure as code to provision and manage any infrastructure across your organization.
Packer standardizes image workflows across cloud providers, allowing teams to build, govern and manage any image for any cloud.
Waypoint makes infrastructure easily accessible at scale, enabling platform teams to deliver golden patterns and workflows with an internal developer platform.
Nomad brings modern application scheduling to any type of software, allowing you to manage containers, binaries and VMs efficiently in the cloud, on-premises and across edge environments.
What You'll Do (responsibilities)
We are looking for a highly experienced Software Engineer to drive our long-term technical success across multiple teams. This role requires strategic technical leadership to architect and influence complex, long-term initiatives, while simultaneously setting unified technical standards and engineering excellence that raise the bar for all teams. A core component of this role is acting as a force multiplier, building a sustainable peer technical network through mentorship and delegation. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional flexibility to step into various high-leverage roles to deliver the highest impact where the organization needs it most, will be excited by the prospect of building new, innovative solutions from the ground up alongside a team of highly passionate and talented engineers.
Drive Engineering and Operational Excellence: Set the standard for engineering excellence, driving best practices, architecture review processes, and operational maturity across the organization.
Strategic Technical Influence: Apply deep knowledge of the business and advanced software engineering expertise to guide and influence the most challenging projects that are transformational, complex, high-risk, or technically demanding.
Thought Leadership and Innovation: Anticipate, identify, and execute on innovative and visionary concepts for IBM/HashiCorp products and practices that drive the product roadmap, solve complex industry issues, and aim for game-changing market leadership.
Architectural Stewardship: Shape the organization's technical direction on key technologies, architectural patterns, and client solutions, particularly in areas like reliable data lifecycle, secure orchestration, and the intelligent control plane.
Technical Force Multiplier: Act as a critical force multiplier by actively mentoring senior engineers, delegating high-leverage work, and building a sustainable, strong peer technical network to scale organizational impact.

Required technical and professional expertise
You have at least 10+ years of experience as an engineer working in Golang
You have professional experience developing with modern programming languages and frameworks
You have success stories of building scalable application from groud-up.
You have experience working with distributed systems, particularly on a cloud provider such as AWS, Azure or GCP, with a focus on scalability, resilience and security.
Demonstrated experience in reviewing & refactoring code and making suggestions that improve the codebase and product. Experience writing tests that cover complex and edge cases.
Demonstrated ability to build trust and foster relationships across teams and stakeholders, with a focus on valuing diverse perspectives and proficiently managing expectations
Cloud-native mindset and solid understanding of DevOps principles in a cloud environment
Proven decision-making abilities with an intentional, data-driven approach to solving complex technical challenges and delivering results
Strong customer focus and systems-thinking mindset, with a commitment to personal accountability, self-awareness, and continuous improvement in support of high-quality outcomes

You have experience using HashiCorp products (Terraform, Packer, Waypoint, Nomad, Vault, Boundary, Consul).
