Senior Software Engineer

Gradient Cyber is building QAI, an AI-driven security operations platform used by 150+ organizations, including banks and other regulated businesses.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who can own major components of the platform from design through production, mentor other engineers and help raise the technical bar across the team.

You will report to the Head of Dev.

What You'll Build

You will work across core parts of QAI, including:

• High-volume data ingestion and ETL pipelines
• Kafka-based streaming systems
• Analytical data platforms using ClickHouse and SQL
• Real-time dashboards and WebSocket services
• FastAPI backend services
• Automated response workflows
• LLM-powered applications and AI-agent workflows
• Multi-tenant SaaS systems
• Secure, auditable systems for regulated customers
  

• Own major components from technical design through production.
• Break complex requirements into deliverable pieces and provide reliable estimates.
• Build and operate high-volume pipelines handling data from 150+ customers.
• Build real-time dashboards using React, FastAPI and Go/WebSockets.
• Build LLM features including retrieval, multi-step agents and output validation.
• Design for strict customer data separation, security and auditability.
• Review code and mentor mid-level engineers.
• Contribute to testing, CI/CD, observability and engineering standards.
• Participate in production support and incident reviews for the systems you own.
• Document technical decisions and clearly communicate trade-offs.
  

• 6+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong Python skills, with working proficiency in TypeScript and/or Go.
• Hands-on experience with several of:
• Kafka or similar streaming systems
• ClickHouse or other analytical databases
• Strong SQL
• Redis
• FastAPI or similar Python frameworks
• React
• GCP, AWS or Azure
• LLM-based applications
• Experience building and operating production systems.
• Experience with multi-tenant SaaS and customer data isolation.
• Strong understanding of testing, CI/CD and observability.
• Clear written communication and the ability to explain technical decisions.
  

• Cybersecurity, SIEM or security tooling experience.
• LangGraph, LangSmith, Langfuse or AI evaluation experience.
• Real-time data visualization and WebSockets.
• Mobile development using React Native/Expo or native iOS/Android.
• Experience mentoring engineers or leading a technical workstream.
  

• Work at the intersection of cybersecurity, AI and scalable software platforms.
• Build systems protecting 150+ organizations, including banks and other regulated businesses.
• Work on technically challenging problems with real production impact.
