Senior Software Engineer (Golang & React)

About The Opportunity

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our team and lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of scalable, high-performance commerce applications.

In this role, you will primarily focus on backend engineering, building and maintaining the systems that support wholesale and retail operations, including purchase orders, transfer orders, inventory management, warehouse operations, vendor order processing, data processing, and internal business applications.

You will take end-to-end ownership of complex technical solutions, working across system architecture, application development, APIs, integrations, cloud infrastructure, production support, and operational reliability. You will collaborate closely with Product, Business Operations, Platform, Security, Data, and Support teams to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable solutions.

As a senior technical contributor, you will also help drive architectural decisions, establish engineering best practices, mentor other developers, and contribute to application modernization initiatives.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, strong expertise in Golang, React, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and AWS, and a solid background in distributed systems, microservices, cloud-native architectures, and production reliability.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical discovery, architecture discussions, and solution design for complex, cross-functional engineering initiatives.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications, APIs, microservices, and integrations using Golang.
• Build and enhance internal web applications using React and TypeScript.
• Develop reliable solutions supporting purchase orders, transfer orders, inventory management, warehouse operations, shipments, and vendor integrations.
• Design and implement scalable data-processing workflows, including batch processing and asynchronous, event-driven pipelines.
• Build and maintain cloud-native applications using AWS services, including ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, SQS/SNS, and EventBridge.
• Design, optimize, and maintain relational database structures using PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, partitioning, replication, and migrations.
• Define and implement application modernization strategies, including platform refactoring, schema migrations, API versioning, and backward compatibility.
• Apply distributed systems principles, microservices patterns, and domain-driven design to build reliable and extensible applications.
• Develop and optimize high-performance, low-latency applications, implementing caching, concurrency management, and rate-limiting strategies.
• Establish engineering best practices, coding standards, and scalable architectural patterns across the team.
• Translate complex technical initiatives into actionable development tasks, technical specifications, and implementation plans.
• Mentor and support other engineers through technical guidance, design reviews, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
• Take end-to-end ownership of technical solutions, from requirements analysis and system design through implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing production support.
• Build and improve observability, monitoring, alerting, distributed tracing, deployment health checks, and release validation processes.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues using application logs, metrics, distributed traces, and data analysis, performing root-cause analysis and implementing long-term solutions.
• Contribute to infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD practices using Terraform and GitHub Actions, supporting safe deployment strategies such as blue-green deployments, canary releases, feature flags, and rollback mechanisms.
• Identify and remediate application security vulnerabilities, dependency issues, authorization gaps, and CI/CD security risks.
• Participate in production support rotations and assist with time-sensitive operational escalations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to communicate architectural decisions, technical trade-offs, and implementation strategies.
• Explore and apply AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity, software quality, testing, and code reviews.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong track record of delivering production-ready applications and independently owning complex technical solutions.
• Strong hands-on experience with Golang for backend development, APIs, microservices, and system integrations.
• Solid experience with React and TypeScript for developing and maintaining internal web applications.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases, such as MySQL or AWS RDS/Aurora, including schema design, query optimization, partitioning, replication, and database migrations.
• Strong practical experience with AWS cloud services in production environments, including compute (ECS/EKS, Lambda), storage (S3), managed databases (RDS), messaging services (SQS/SNS, EventBridge), load balancing, and CDN.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, microservices, event-driven architectures, domain-driven design, and cloud-native design patterns.
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs, service contracts, API versioning strategies, and scalable system integrations.
• Experience building batch processing workflows, asynchronous data pipelines, and event-driven applications in production environments.
• Strong understanding of application performance optimization, including caching strategies (e.g., Redis), rate limiting, and concurrency management.
• Experience implementing observability and reliability practices, including monitoring, alerting, distributed tracing, SLAs/SLOs, and disaster recovery.
• Strong production troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills, with the ability to investigate complex system issues and implement sustainable solutions.
• Solid understanding of secure software development practices, including dependency management, authentication and authorization, secrets handling, and CI/CD security hardening.
• Experience with modern CI/CD workflows, automated testing, and reliable software deployment practices.
• Proficiency with AI-powered development tools, such as GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT, and an understanding of LLM integration patterns.
• Strong experience contributing to system architecture, technical design decisions, and application modernization initiatives.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, conduct technical reviews, and promote engineering best practices.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical decision-making skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts and architectural trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with Product, Business Operations, Platform, Security, Data, and Support teams.
• Ability to independently manage ambiguous technical challenges and deliver high-quality solutions in complex production environments.
