Job Description

Candidates for this position are preferred to be based in Bangalore, India and will be expected to comply with their team's hybrid work schedule requirements.

Who We Are

Global Supplier Technology (GST) builds the platforms that power Wayfair's supplier ecosystem so that thousands of partners can reliably list, price, fulfill, and service millions of products around the world.

PH Supplier Journeys focuses on the end-to-end experience suppliers have in Partner Home — from onboarding and catalog setup through day-to-day operations like managing assortment, fixing catalog issues, and monitoring performance. We build the foundational services and user experiences that make it simple and intuitive for suppliers to do high-quality work at scale, while ensuring data accuracy, resiliency, and strong internal controls.

We partner closely with Product, Experience Design, Analytics, and many downstream systems across Wayfair to deliver high-impact improvements to supplier productivity, data quality, and business outcomes.

What You'll Do

  • Own design and implementation of backend services and APIs that power key Partner Home Supplier Journeys experiences, from requirements through deployment and ongoing operations.
  • Lead the technical execution for medium-to-large projects, making pragmatic architectural decisions and driving trade-off discussions across GST and adjacent teams.
  • Collaborate with PM, XD, and Analytics partners to translate business and supplier pain points into clear technical solutions and incremental delivery plans.
  • Champion engineering excellence: raise the bar on code quality, reliability, observability, and performance through design reviews, code reviews, and test strategy.
  • Build systems that are secure, auditable, and compliant with Wayfair's data and access standards, particularly for supplier- and finance-adjacent workflows.
  • Proactively identify and reduce operational toil (incidents, manual interventions, noisy alerts) through automation, better instrumentation, and thoughtful design.
  • Mentor and support L1–L3 engineers on the team, helping them grow their technical depth and ownership.
  • Contribute to the longer-term technical strategy and roadmap for PH Supplier Journeys, including platform simplification and deprecation of legacy systems where appropriate.

We Are a Match Because You Have

  • 7+ years of experience in backend software engineering architecting and implementing robust, distributed web applications or services.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience building services in at least one modern object-oriented language (e.g., Java, Kotlin, C#, or similar), including designing clear domain models and APIs.
  • Experience with relational databases and/or distributed datastores, along with a solid understanding of data modeling, indexing, and query performance.
  • Experience with modern CI/CD practices and tools, and comfort owning your code from local development through production (build, deploy, monitor, debug).
  • Familiarity with building and operating systems in a cloud-native environment (containers, Kubernetes, or similar orchestration).
  • Strong grasp of software design and engineering best practices (e.g., testing strategies, incremental delivery, refactoring, and patterns for reliability and scalability).
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and across teams, clearly communicating technical decisions and earning trust with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A bias for action, curiosity, and a desire to continuously improve both systems and team processes.

Why You'll Love Wayfair

  • Opportunity to work on high-impact, customer- and supplier-facing platforms at global scale, with meaningful ownership of critical journeys in Partner Home.
  • A strong engineering culture that values learning, experimentation, and pragmatic, data-informed decision making.
  • Competitive compensation, equity, and benefits, with a focus on long-term career development and internal mobility.
  • Hybrid work environment with a collaborative office culture, regular team connection points, and flexibility for focused individual work.
