Senior Software Engineer

Location- Hybrid, Pune

Position Summary:

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with an experience in Data Engineering or Data Platform development with a mindset to design scalable, production-grade systems. This role requires both deep technical ability and leadership - someone who can architect solutions, contribute to development, and mentor team members.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable data platforms, ingestion frameworks, and analytics solutions.
• Architect end-to-end data solutions spanning ingestion, transformation, storage, and presentation layers.
• Develop and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using Databricks, Spark, and cloud-native technologies.
• Design and implement Lakehouse architectures and data models following Medallion principles.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and analytics teams to deliver data-driven capabilities.
• Drive architecture discussions and ensure scalability, reliability, security, and cost efficiency.
• Implement data governance, RBAC, RLS, CLS, data quality, and security best practices.
• Review designs and code, maintain engineering standards, and mentor junior engineers.
• Enable AI-driven insights by building data foundations and integrating AI capabilities into the platform.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering or Data Platform development.
• Strong hands-on experience with Databricks, Apache Spark, Python, and SQL.
• Experience designing and implementing modern Lakehouse architectures and Medallion data models.
• Strong understanding of distributed data processing, data modeling, partitioning, and performance optimization.
• Experience building batch and streaming data pipelines at scale.
• Experience with Azure data services and cloud-agnostic data platforms.
• Strong knowledge of data governance, security, lineage, RBAC, RLS, and CLS frameworks.
• Experience designing enterprise-scale analytics and data platforms.
• Experience leveraging Databricks AI capabilities or similar platforms to build AI-powered insights and intelligent data solutions.
• Strong problem-solving, system design, and technical leadership skills.

Good to Have

• Experience with Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake, or open table formats.
• Experience with Azure Data Factory, Event Hub, Kafka, or real-time data processing.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and DevOps practices.
• Experience with data observability, monitoring, and metadata management tools.
• Exposure to AI/ML feature engineering and GenAI-powered analytics solutions.
