As a Software Engineer at Applied Materials, you'll dive deep into ground-breaking technologies-like machine learning and AI-to craft novel software solutions that solve our customers high-value problems. Our Software Engineers are responsible for designing, prototyping, developing, and debugging software solutions for semiconductor equipment components and devices to ensure quality and functionality. You'll develop software documentation and test procedures, troubleshoot software problems, and communicate with internal customers to understand project requirements. As part of our team, you'll contribute your expertise in intricate systems, deciphering code, and anticipating software behaviors to ensure Applied remains the leader in the semiconductor and display sectors.We are looking for a highly skilled and hands-onData and API Engineer with deepexpertiseinPython,API development, andGenAI technologies. The ideal candidate will have a proventrack recordof implementing complex data solutions, coordinating effectively with infrastructure teams and customers, and solving challenging technical problems with creativity and precision.
Key Responsibilities:
Hands-on Implementation: Architect, develop, andmaintainscalable data platforms using Python, APIs, and modern data technologies.
GenAI Integration: Apply GenAI tools for code generation, SQL optimization, anomaly detection, and intelligent automation.
Infrastructure Coordination: Collaborate closely with infrastructure teams to ensure seamless deployment, scalability, and performance of data solutions.
Customer Engagement: Act as a technical liaison with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements, provide updates, and ensure satisfaction.
Problem Solving: Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex data issues, performance bottlenecks, and integration challenges.
Platform Modernization: Drive initiatives around cloud migration, real-time data processing, and AI-powered data monitoring.
Team Leadership: Mentor junior engineers and foster a collaborative, innovative engineering culture.
Required Qualifications:
6-8 years of experience in data engineering, software development, or platform architecture.
StrongproficiencyinPython, RESTful API development, andmicroservicesarchitecture.
Hands-on experience withGenAI tools(e.g., Claude Code, Claude CLI, Claude skills, GitHub Copilot, OpenAI Codex, Databricks AI).
Expertisein SQL performance tuning and query optimization.
Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and modern data stacks.
Strong coordination skills with infrastructure and customer-facing teams.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with data warehouse technologies (ClickHouse,Databricks).
Familiarity with agentic AI systems and autonomous data monitoring.
Background in semiconductor, manufacturing, or high-tech industries.
Contributions to open-source projects or technical publications.
