R&D unit in KTI is responsible for developing digital services at KONE. It's the development engine for our Digital Services such as KONE 24/7 Connected Services, Office Flow and Partnership Ecosystem. Our common goal at KONE is to keep the end users safe and people flow uninterrupted. KONE moves 2 billion people every day and that means our services can really make cities better places to live

Role Summary:
The Senior Software Developer is responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and maintaining scalable software solutions across backend and frontend components. The role requires strong expertise in Node.js, REST APIs, full-stack development, system integration, and edge/container-based platforms.

The role involves independent ownership of technically complex development and R&D activities, investigation of system-level issues, implementation of robust solutions, and active contribution to application architecture and engineering improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend APIs and full-stack software components.
• Develop scalable and maintainable services using Node.js and related technologies.
• Participate in frontend development and integration activities using React JS.
• Take independent ownership of complex development and R&D assignments.
• Design and implement REST APIs, system interfaces, and software integrations.
• Work with edge computing platforms, containerized applications, and deployment environments.
• Participate in technical design, architecture, and solution discussions.
• Analyze system-level issues and perform root-cause analysis and troubleshooting.
• Perform code reviews and ensure compliance with engineering standards.
• Improve software performance, reliability, security, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with frontend, QA, DevOps, architects, and other engineering stakeholders.
• Support integration testing, release activities, and technical validation.
• Develop reusable components and technical solutions for current and future products.
• Support junior developers through technical guidance and knowledge sharing.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices and development processes.

Required Technical Skills:

• Strong experience in Node.js and backend application development.
• Experience in React JS and full-stack application development.
• Strong knowledge of REST APIs and system integration.
• Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Knowledge of Docker, containers, and edge/platform environments.
• Understanding of databases and backend data handling.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, and modern software development practices.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting capabilities.
