The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. Software Design Engineer with experience in using cutting edge AI tools both for software development, and bringing AI-led features to our customers. In this role, you will be a key driver in designing, building, and scaling the core platforms and intelligent features that power the Bryt Intelligent Learning Platform.
You will tackle complex technical challenges—from building and optimizing high-concurrency systems to building seamless, interactive AI-driven educational tools like smart tutors, adaptive learning paths, and automated grading systems. As a senior member of the team, you will shape our AI architecture, use cutting-edge AI tools to create exceptional design and code, and mentor junior engineers. You will collaborate closely with our Product and Design teams to deliver deeply personalized experiences for our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect AI Solutions: Design, implement, and deploy scalable AI/ML pipelines and integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) into our core product ecosystem using RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) and agentic workflows.
- Build Core Platforms: Lead the development of robust, secure backend services and highly responsive applications that serve both traditional product features and complex AI interactions.
- Drive Technical Excellence: Generate clean, maintainable, and testable code. Establish and champion best practices in code reviews, CI/CD, prompt management, and AI system architecture.
- Scale for Impact: Optimize application performance, database queries, and AI inference latency to ensure a seamless, real-time experience for thousands of concurrent students and teachers.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with Product Managers, UI/UX Designers, and Data Scientists to translate requirements into elegant, ethical, and effective AI-powered technical solutions.
- Mentorship & Leadership: Act as a technical mentor for mid-level and junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and engineering excellence.
Must-Haves
- Experience: 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of bringing production-grade AI/ML features or applications to market.
- GenAI Experience: Hands-on experience working with LLMs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Llama), and building robust LLM-based applications.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong design skills with focus on abstraction, layering, loose coupling, encapsulation, performance, security, privacy, and concurrency. Experience building high scalable back-end systems is required. Experience building mobile applications is highly desired.
- System Design & Data: Proven experience in system architecture, API design (REST/GraphQL), and working with relational (SQL), NoSQL, and Vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, Qdrant).
- Cloud Infrastructure: Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and deploying AI models in cloud environments.
- Problem Solving: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with Python/Django and React/Flutter.
- Knowledge of AI ethics, safety guardrails, and strategies for mitigating model bias and hallucinations in an educational context.
- Experience with accessibility standards (WCAG) to ensure our platforms are usable by all learners.
