Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Senior Social Media Manager role based in Mumbai. The Senior Social Media Manager will lead the planning, execution, and optimization of social media strategies across multiple platforms to support branding, public communication campaigns, and client objectives for government bodies, ministries, public sector undertakings (PSUs), and allied organizations.

Daily responsibilities include developing content calendars, coordinating with creative and account teams, overseeing content creation (copy, visuals, and campaign briefs), and managing publishing and scheduling. The role involves monitoring performance metrics, optimizing campaigns for reach and engagement, and preparing regular reports and insights for internal stakeholders and government clients. The Senior Social Media Manager will also stay current with platform trends, digital communication policies, and best practices, mentor junior team members, and ensure consistent messaging and brand alignment across all social channels.

Preferred Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in managing social media and digital communication projects for Government of India Ministries, Departments, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), and other government organizations. Experience in mainline media, public communications, and strategic communication campaigns is highly desirable.The candidate should possess a thorough understanding of government communication ecosystems and be adept at interpreting client requirements, translating them into actionable communication strategies, and ensuring the timely delivery of all project milestonesand deliverables.

Key responsibilities and competencies include

  • Proven experience in handling social media, public outreach, and communication campaigns for Government of India ministries, departments, or PSUs.
  • Strong understanding of government communication protocols, stakeholder management, and public engagement strategies.
  • Ability to lead and manage the existing on-site team, ensuring efficient workflow, quality control, and adherence to project timelines.
  • Capability to coordinate closely with the central team based in Delhi, ensuring seamless execution, reporting, and alignment across all project activities.
  • Experience in mainline media, public relations, corporate communications, or public affairs will be an added advantage.
  • Strong client servicing skills with the ability to understand evolving client requirements, provide proactive solutions, and maintain high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Ability to provide strategic communication guidance, including campaign planning, messaging frameworks, content direction, and reputation management.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing interactions with senior government officials, key decision-makers, and high-level stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to assess communication effectiveness and recommend improvements aligned with project objectives.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to represent the project confidently in internal and external forums.
  • Ability to ensure alignment between communication strategies, project goals, and desired public engagement outcomes.

The candidate should be a proactive, capable of balancing strategic thinking with operational execution, while maintaining strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.
