Senior Site Reliability Engineer (Fintech)

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior SRE to join our Fintech engineering team. You will be responsible for the reliability, scalability, and performance of our AWS-based financial services. Our ideal candidate is a Terraform expert who understands that in Fintech, data is king. You will bridge the gap between development and production, ensuring our PostgreSQL and MongoDB layers are bulletproof while maintaining a seamless local-to-cloud developer experience using Docker Compose.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure as Code: Design, build, and maintain scalable AWS infrastructure using Terraform. Ensure all environments (Dev, QA, Prod) are version-controlled and reproducible.

Database Reliability: Own the health and performance of PostgreSQL and MongoDB clusters. Implement automated backups, failover testing, and query optimization to handle high-frequency financial data.

Developer Experience: Standardize local development workflows using Docker Compose, ensuring microservices interact seamlessly with containerized database mocks or AWS sandboxes.

Observability: Implement comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting for the entire AWS stack to ensure 99.99% uptime.

Security & Compliance: Hardened AWS environments in line with Fintech standards (e.g., PCI-DSS), managing IAM roles, VPC security groups, and encryption at rest/transit.

Automation/Toil Reduction: Identify manual processes in the deployment or database maintenance cycle and automate them using Python or Bash.

Required Technical Skills

AWS Expert: Deep experience with EKS, RDS, DocumentDB, Lambda, S3, and VPC networking.

Terraform Specialist: Proven ability to write modular, reusable Terraform scripts and manage complex state files.

Database Pro: Strong operational knowledge of PostgreSQL (indexing, locking, vacuuming) and MongoDB (sharding, replica sets, aggregation pipelines).

Containerization: Mastery of Docker and Docker Compose for both local orchestration and production-grade container management.

Scripting: Proficiency in Python or Go for building custom automation tools.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum B.Sc. in IT / Computer Science or related field

Certification in Amazon Web Services (AWS) – preferably Cloud Practitioner or Solutions Architect Associate

Fintech Background: Previous experience building or maintaining payment gateways, digital wallets, or core banking systems.

Security Mindset: Understanding of Zero Trust architecture and financial data privacy regulations.

Incident Response: Experience leading blameless post-mortems and reducing MTTR (Mean Time to Resolution).
