Job Description Summary
Our Mission & Vision
At ModMed, we are placing doctors and patients at the center of care through an intelligent, specialty-specific cloud platform. We envision a world where the software we build increases medical-practice success and improves patient outcomes.
The Role: Impact at Scale
As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer II, you are a senior-level architect of reliability. You don't just maintain systems; you think big to shape the future of our cloud operations. In this role, you will be a strategic partner in ensuring our AWS infrastructure is world-class, cost-effective, and inherently secure.
You will innovate boldly by leading complex technical initiatives and aligning passion with purpose as you mentor the next generation of engineers. Your work ensures that when a doctor reaches for our software, it is fast, reliable, and ready to help them do good.
How You'll Drive Success
- Strategic Cloud Ownership: Design and lead the deployment of secure, scalable AWS infrastructure. You'll optimize for high availability and fault tolerance, ensuring our business-critical applications thrive.
- Advanced Observability: Champion a culture of data-driven decisions by enhancing our DataDog ecosystem. You'll ensure we have proactive detection and deep visibility into every corner of our AWS environments.
- CI/CD Leadership: Lead the evolution of our deployment velocity. You will optimize robust pipelines using Jenkins, making deploying with confidence a daily reality for our engineering teams.
- Kubernetes Orchestration: Manage and optimize our containerized world at scale. You'll drive improvements in scalability and deployment consistency that save time for everyone.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Champion: Be the expert voice for Terraform or Ansible, automating complex cloud operations to eliminate manual toil and improve efficiency.
- Security & HIPAA Stewardship: Safeguard our patients and doctors trust by ensuring all operations meet rigorous security and compliance standards (HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2).
- Mentorship & Cultural Leadership: You aren't just a technical lead; you are a coach. You will foster a collaborative environment where you mentor junior engineers and have fun while solving hard problems.
What You'll Bring
- Experience: 79 years of deep experience in SRE or Cloud Engineering, with a proven track record of managing large-scale AWS environments.
- AWS Mastery: Extensive experience with EC2, S3, Lambda, and RDS, with a focus on cost-optimization and resource utilization.
- The SRE Toolkit: Proficiency in Kubernetes, DataDog, and Jenkins.
- Coding & Automation: Strong scripting skills (Python or Bash) and professional expertise in IaC tools like Terraform.
- Problem-Solving Prowess: A proactive, ownership mindset. You don't just fix problems; you architect systems so they don't break in the first place.
- Clear Communication: The ability to translate complex technical strategies into clear goals for cross-functional teams and leadership.
Nice-to-Haves
- AWS Professional-level Certifications.
- Experience with serverless architectures or cloud-native data tools (Kafka, Kinesis, Redshift).
- Prior experience in healthcare technology or high-security environments.
Why Join ModMed
- Lead the Strategy: At the SRE 2 level, you have a seat at the table to help shape our technical roadmap.
- Direct Healthcare Impact: Your work directly enables better patient outcomes by keeping the intelligent heart of medical practices running smoothly.
- Innovation & Autonomy: We encourage you to innovate boldly. If there is a better way to do things, we want you to lead the charge.
- A Culture of Excellence: Work with a team that values customer delight and doing good as much as they value clean code and 99.99% uptime.
