Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior ServiceNow Service Portal Developer to lead the design, development, and optimization of enterprise-grade ServiceNow portals. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Service Portal development, front-end technologies, ServiceNow platform customization, integrations, and user experience design. This role requires the ability to architect scalable self-service solutions while collaborating with stakeholders, architects, and development teams across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Service Portal Architecture & Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable ServiceNow Service Portal solutions for enterprise users.
  • Create and customize portal pages, widgets, themes, headers, footers, and reusable UI components.
  • Lead portal architecture discussions and recommend best practices for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Develop responsive, mobile-friendly, and accessible portal experiences.

Front-End Development

  • Build advanced custom widgets using AngularJS, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and Bootstrap.
  • Develop dynamic and interactive user interfaces that enhance user engagement and self-service adoption.
  • Ensure cross-browser compatibility and responsive design standards.
  • Optimize portal performance, usability, and accessibility.

ServiceNow Platform Development

  • Configure and customize ServiceNow applications, Service Catalog items, record producers, workflows, and platform components.
  • Develop and maintain Client Scripts, Business Rules, Script Includes, UI Policies, UI Actions, and custom applications.
  • Leverage Flow Designer and Workflow capabilities to automate complex business processes.
  • Support implementation and enhancement of Employee and Customer self-service solutions.

Integrations & Data Management

  • Design and develop integrations with external systems using REST and SOAP APIs.
  • Build custom solutions to display and interact with external data within Service Portal.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration and data synchronization issues.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Solution Architects, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on Service Portal capabilities and platform best practices.
  • Participate in solution design workshops and architecture reviews.

Quality Assurance & Release Management

  • Conduct code reviews and enforce development standards and best practices.
  • Perform unit testing and support integration, regression, and user acceptance testing activities.
  • Support deployment planning, release management, and platform upgrades.

Maintenance & Support

  • Troubleshoot complex portal issues and provide advanced production support.
  • Monitor portal performance and proactively address system bottlenecks.
  • Ensure compatibility of customizations with ServiceNow upgrades and releases.

Documentation & Knowledge Transfer

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, design documents, and implementation guides.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level developers.
  • Contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives and development standards.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years of ServiceNow development experience.
  • 4+ years of dedicated ServiceNow Service Portal development experience.
  • Strong expertise in: ServiceNow Service Portal, AngularJS, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap
  • Extensive experience developing custom widgets and reusable portal components.
  • Strong knowledge of: Client Scripts, Business Rules, Script Includes, UI Policies, UI Actions, Flow Designer, Service Catalog
  • Experience with REST and SOAP integrations.
  • Strong understanding of ITSM processes and ServiceNow best practices.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Employee Center (EC) and Employee Center Pro (ECP).
  • Exposure to UI Builder and Next Experience Framework.
  • Experience designing enterprise self-service portals.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow Knowledge Management and Employee Experience solutions.

Certifications

  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) - Required
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) - Preferred
  • Additional ServiceNow certifications are a plus
