Job Description

About the role:

Lead Propel's SEO strategy across product, content, and growth, with a clear focus on pipeline and revenue, not just traffic.

Act as the inhouse SEO brain and operator: build the roadmap, get work done, and iterate based on data.

Work closely with founders and marketing to make SEO a core, compounding growth channel for Propel.

Have a strong grasp on SEO tools and analytics. Google search console, Ahref's, Moz, Semrush, Google analytics (with 2025 certificate).

Key responsibilities:

Own the SEO strategy

Build Propel's Topical Authority on Google and AI answer engined

Define a 612 month SEO roadmap aligned to Propel's GTM, ICPs, and core use cases.

Turn business goals (signups, demos, expansion) into clear SEO objectives, themes, and target keyword clusters.

Build, prioritize, and continually refi ne an SEO backlog across technical, content, and offpage initiatives.

Be handson with execution

Run deep keyword and SERP analysis for highintent, category, competitor, and problemaware terms; map them to pages and journeys.

Write SEOfirst content (landing pages, blogs, comparison pages, docs) and own onpage optimization (titles, meta, internal links, schema).

Perform regular technical audits (crawlability, indexation, site architecture, Core Web Vitals) and work with dev to ship fixes.

Direct and qualitycontrol offpage work (digital PR, partnerships, link acquisition) with a focus on relevance and authority, not volume.

Own measurement and experimentation

Set and track core SEO KPIs: nonbrand organic traffic, rankings for priority clusters, signups, demo requests, and assisted pipeline.

Build clean reporting in GA4, GSC, and one major SEO suite (Ahrefs/SEMrush) and communicate progress to leadership regularly.

Design and run experiments (new page types, internal link tests, content refreshes, schema changes) and document learnings.

Crossfunctional leadership

Partner with content, product marketing, and lifecycle teams to ensure SEO insight shapes campaigns and narratives from day one.

Brief and manage external writers, designers, and SEO vendors when needed; create simple processes they can follow.

Educate the broader team on SEO best practices so content and product changes don't unintentionally hurt performance.

What a Great Profile Is:

Experience

47 years in SEO with at least 23 years owning strategy and execution for a B2B or SaaS product (inhouse preferred, startup or highgrowth environment a plus).

Proven track record of taking a site from low/flat organic to meaningful, measurable pipeline impact (not just vanity traffic).

Skills

Strategic: Strong understanding of search intent, category creation, and how SEO plugs into the overall GTM and demand generation engine.

Technical: Confident with site architecture, internal linking, Core Web Vitals, structured data, and common JS/SPA SEO pitfalls (can brief engineers clearly).

Content: Can turn keyword and SERP insights into tight briefs, content outlines, and page structures that can actually rank and convert.

Analytical: Advanced user of GA4, GSC, and at least one of Ahrefs/SEMrush/Moz; strong at building dashboards and telling a clear story with data.

Ways of working

Owner mindset: Operates like a miniGM for organic growthsets goals, makes tradeoffs, and takes responsibility for outcomes.

Bias to action: Comfortable rolling up sleeves to write, implement, audit, and fi x instead of only delegating.

Clear communicator: Can explain complex SEO choices simply to nonSEO stakeholders and influence decisions.

Tools and Qualifications:

Deep handson experience with: GSC, GA4, Ahrefs/SEMrush (or similar), and a modern site crawler (Screaming Frog/JetOctopus/Similar).

Comfortable using basic HTML/CSS and CMSs (Webflow) to implement onpage changes and experiments.

Nice to have: Experience with marketing analytics/BI tools, basic SQL for deeper analysis, and prior work in B2B SaaS or PLG environments.
