Senior SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test – Data)

General Purpose of the Job
The Senior SDET – Data plays a critical role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and integrity of Alkami's data platforms, pipelines, and analytics systems. This role involves designing and implementing automated testing frameworks, validating large‑scale data systems, and driving quality standards across the data lifecycle. The position requires hands‑on testing expertise, strong collaboration with cross‑functional teams, and the ability to deliver scalable, high‑quality data solutions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain automated Data and UI test frameworks for data lakes, warehouses, ETL pipelines, and analytics reporting.
- Data Lake experience is mandatory — hands‑on work with data lakes, ETL pipelines, and large‑scale data platforms.
- Develop test strategies for functional, integration, regression, and performance testing of data pipelines.
- Create and execute data validation scripts to ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity across large‑scale data platforms.
- Collaborate with Data Engineering and Development teams to establish quality engineering best practices.
- Act as a quality advocate, identifying risks in data systems and ensuring mitigation strategies are implemented.
- Partner with DevOps to enhance CI/CD pipelines with comprehensive automated test coverage.
- Analyze test results and provide insights to improve system scalability and reliability.
- Mentor Junior SDETs on advanced testing methodologies, tools, and problem‑solving techniques.
- Lead peer reviews for test code to ensure adherence to coding and quality standards.
- Monitor production data quality and proactively address issues to minimize impact.
- Participate in cross‑functional design discussions to promote testable and maintainable system designs.
Recommended Experience & Education
- Minimum Experience:
- 5+ years of relevant experience, OR
- 3+ years with an advanced degree
- Strong background in data testing, automation, SQL, ETL validation, and large‑scale data systems.
- Hands‑on experience with test frameworks, scripting languages, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience working in cloud‑based data environments is preferred.
