SAP CO (Product Costing) Consultant

Experience: 7+ Years

Role Overview

The SAP CO (Product Costing) Consultant will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing SAP Controlling processes with a strong focus on Product Costing. The role aims to improve financial transparency, cost accuracy, and decision-making by enabling robust cost management and reporting across business units.

Key Responsibilities

SAP CO Configuration & Implementation

  • Design, configure, and support SAP Controlling (CO) modules including:
  • Cost Center Accounting (CCA)
  • Internal Orders
  • Profitability Analysis (CO-PA – Account-based / Costing-based)
  • Product Costing (CO-PC)
  • Implement Product Costing for:
  • Make-to-Stock (MTS)
  • Make-to-Order (MTO)
  • Standard Costing, Actual Costing, and Cost Estimates
  • Configure BOMs, Routings, Costing Variants, Valuation Variants, Overhead Costing Sheets, and Cost Component Structures.

Integration & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with MM, PP, and FI teams to ensure seamless end-to-end cost flow and financial integration.
  • Support integration points such as:
  • Material Ledger and Actual Costing
  • Goods movements and production postings
  • Settlement of variances and profitability analysis
  • Ensure alignment between controlling processes and financial accounting requirements.

Cost Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyze:
  • Production variances (price, usage, quantity, mix)
  • Overhead and manufacturing variances
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities related to CO.
  • Enable and enhance management reporting for cost, margin, and profitability insights.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to business stakeholders based on cost analysis.

Support & Continuous Improvement

  • Provide functional support, issue resolution, and user guidance post-implementation.
  • Participate in system enhancements, process optimization, and rollout activities.
  • Create functional specifications and support testing (unit, integration, UAT).
  • Train end users and prepare functional documentation.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • BCom/ICWA/CA/MBA Fin/CIMA
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in SAP CO, with strong expertise in Product Costing (CO-PC).
  • Deep knowledge of:
  • Cost estimates
  • Standard vs. actual costing
  • Variance calculation and analysis
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing business processes.
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA Finance preferred.
  • Proven experience working in integrated SAP landscapes (FI/MM/PP).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in multiple implementation and support projects.
  • Exposure to Material Ledger and Actual Costing in S/4HANA.
  • Prior experience in consulting or large transformation programs.
  • Certification in SAP CO or S/4HANA Finance is a plus.
