The Retention team is part of the broader Direct To Consumer (DTC) organisation, which aligns with our strategy of putting our customers and our direct relationships with them first. As a Senior Salesforce Engineer, you will be responsible for the implementation, optimisation, and automation of processes within Salesforce Service Cloud, delivering scalable and high-quality solutions that empower our customer service teams. You will use a mix of declarative and programmatic tools including Apex, Lightning Components, JavaScript, Visualforce, and integrations to architect and implement service capabilities. Working in an agile environment, you'll partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure our Service Cloud platform evolves to meet the needs of a global customer operation.
THE GIG
As a Senior Salesforce Engineer, you will:
- Design, implement, optimise, and automate business processes within Salesforce Service Cloud.
- Build robust functionality using Lightning Components, JavaScript, Apex, and Visualforce.
- Handle web services API integrations between Salesforce and third-party systems.
- Perform technical evaluations and propose solution designs aligned to business requirements and platform best practices.
- Apply expertise in advanced Apex programming, including common design patterns, governor limit management, bulkification techniques, efficient trigger handling, and asynchronous operations.
- Design, develop, test, document and deploy third-party integrations with Salesforce.
- Build and maintain automated unit tests for Salesforce platform code.
- Manage the change control process across sandboxes, ensuring changes are documented, reviewed, tested, and approved prior to deployment.
- Implement new features using declarative tools such as custom objects, workflows, flows, approval processes, validation rules, and email alerts.
- Develop reports, dashboards, custom report types, and processes to monitor data quality and performance.
- Manage Salesforce configuration including users, roles, profiles, groups, queues, and security controls.
THE STUFF THAT SETS YOU APART
Must-Have Skills:
- Proven experience as a Salesforce Developer/Engineer with deep experience in Service Cloud.
- Salesforce Platform Developer I certification or similar
- Strong understanding of Salesforce coding limitations and best practices.
- Solid Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) knowledge.
- Hands-on coding background in Apex.
- Strong knowledge of design patterns and scalable engineering practices.
- Knowledge of web development (e.g., JavaScript, Lightning Web Components).
- Experience working with web services APIs (REST/SOAP).
- Strong understanding of relational databases and data modelling.
- Ability to produce clear, structured technical documentation.
Technical Skills:
- Expertise in Salesforce Service Cloud capabilities and configuration.
- Proficiency with Apex, Lightning Components, JavaScript, Visualforce.
- Experience in API integrations (REST/SOAP) and middleware patterns.
- Strong database understanding (SOQL, SQL).
- Experience with CI/CD processes and tooling (e.g., Git, GitLab CI, Jenkins, DevOps Center).
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).
- Understanding of Salesforce testing frameworks and code coverage requirements. Soft Skills:

Education:
- Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Systems, Marketing Technology, or related field.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified ScrumMaster, PMI-ACP, SAFe Agilist) are a plus.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in the retail industry, particularly within a global context.
- Proven track record of collaborating cross-functional technology teams in front-end development or customer experience projects.
- Experience in analysing and mapping customer journeys, and familiarity with digital marketing tools such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Amperity, Klaviyo, Braze, or similar
