Job Description: Senior Sales Engineer Industrial Automation (South Region)Location

Base: Chennai/Bengaluru

Territory Responsibility:

Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Hosur, Kerala

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly driven Senior Sales Engineer Industrial Automation with strong experience in selling PLC, SCADA, VFD, DCS, Servo Systems, and Industrial Ethernet Switches. The candidate should have excellent customer relationships, strong capability in sales planning, strategy execution, and target-driven performance, and proven experience in building and managing sales teams across multi-state regions.

Key Responsibilities Sales & Business Development

  • Drive regional sales for PLC, SCADA, VFD, DCS, Servo Systems, and Industrial Ethernet solutions.
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual order booking targets.
  • Develop and execute state-wise and industry-wise sales plans aligned with organizational goals.
  • Identify and convert opportunities with end users, EPCs, OEMs, consultants, and system integrators.

Sales Strategy & Planning

  • Prepare annual sales plans, monthly forecasts, and opportunity pipelines.
  • Implement solution-based selling strategies (hardware + software + services).
  • Drive key verticals such as Pharma, Steel, Mining, Automotive, FMCG, Data Centers, and Infrastructure.
  • Maintain 3 pipeline coverage against monthly targets.
  • Lead pricing, negotiation, and deal-closure strategies.

Target-Based Execution & Reporting

  • Ensure strict adherence to target-based work culture and KPIs:
  • Monthly order booking
  • Proposal conversion ratio
  • New customer acquisition
  • Key account growth
  • Conduct weekly pipeline and review meetings.
  • Submit MIS reports, forecasts, and management dashboards.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build long-term, trust-based relationships with key customers across regions.
  • Act as a strategic partner by understanding technical requirements and business objectives.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through close coordination with engineering, project, and service teams.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Build, manage, and mentor a regional sales and pre-sales team.
  • Define individual targets and monitor performance.
  • Conduct regular training, joint customer visits, and performance reviews.
  • Develop second-line leadership and scalable sales capability.

Market Intelligence & Growth

  • Track competitor activity, market trends, and emerging technologies.
  • Identify expansion opportunities in existing and new accounts.
  • Support management with inputs for business planning and growth strategies.

Required Experience & Skills

  • 35 years of experience in industrial automation sales (minimum 35 years in a managerial role preferred).
  • Strong hands-on exposure to PLC, SCADA, VFD, DCS, Servo, Industrial Networking.
  • Proven experience in regional sales management and multi-state territory handling.
  • Strong customer bonding, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Experience in sales planning, strategy execution, and target achievement.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across East and South regions.

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation / Automation Engineering (preferred).

Added Advantage

  • Experience with reputed automation brands or system integrators.
  • Exposure to BMS, EMS, Industry 4.0, and digital / AI-enabled automation solutions.
