The organization specializes in engineering and system integration with ABB PLCs, DCS, Drives, SCADA, and Instruments, and Premium Business Partner of ABB.

Key Responsibilities

Independently identify, develop, and close business opportunities for automation systems, DCS/PLC/SCADA, VFDs, MCC/PCC/VFD panels, retrofit projects, spares, and annual service requirements.

Own the complete sales cycle from lead generation and enquiry qualification to technical discussion, proposal strategy, commercial negotiation, and final order closure.

Build and maintain strong working relationships with plant heads, project teams, engineering teams, procurement, consultants, EPC contractors, and key decision-makers at client organizations.

Conduct customer visits, understand process requirements, identify pain points, and convert customer needs into solution-oriented business proposals in coordination with internal engineering teams.

Prepare and review techno-commercial offers, costing inputs, bid qualifications, margin strategy, and presentation material for major opportunities.

Drive key account management for strategic customers and develop long-term business plans for repeat orders, upgrades, modernization, and service business.

Monitor market trends, competitor offerings, industry developments, and customer investment plans to identify new sectors and growth opportunities.

Coordinate closely with engineering, costing, procurement, execution, and service teams to ensure smooth handover of orders and high customer satisfaction.

Support management in sales planning, forecasting, order pipeline review, target achievement, and business expansion initiatives.

Mentor junior sales engineers and contribute to building a disciplined, technically strong, and commercially effective sales team.

About the Role

Qualifications

  • B.E./B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5 to 8 years of proven experience in industrial sales, preferably in Automation, Electrical systems, Drives, Panels, or process-industry solutions.

Required Skills

  • Strong technical understanding of automation architecture, control systems, drives, electrical panels, and project-based industrial selling.
  • Ability to independently handle technical discussions, bid reviews, customer objections, and techno-commercial negotiations.
  • Strong communication, presentation, relationship-building, and leadership capabilities.
  • Commercial maturity with a clear understanding of costing, margin management, payment terms, and sales forecasting.
  • Willingness to travel extensively for customer meetings, site visits, and business development activities.

Preferred Skills

  • Generate new enquiries and strategic opportunities across target industries and territories.
  • Achieve strong conversion of qualified enquiries into profitable orders.
  • Develop sustained relationships with major clients and expand repeat business.
  • Maintain healthy margins, clear offer qualifications, and negotiation effectiveness.
  • Guide junior team members and improve proposal quality, customer handling, and internal coordination.

Preferred Profile

Experience in handling automation and electrical sales for Sugar, Power, Cement, Water, Metal, or other process industries.

Exposure to ABB / Siemens / Rockwell / Schneider / similar industrial automation and electrical product ecosystems.

Prior experience in handling large-value turnkey, retrofit, modernization, or service-led industrial opportunities.

Ability to work as an individual contributor with ownership while also supporting senior management in strategic sales growth.
