Position Overview
The Senior Safety Manager will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and improving safety systems across all project sites in Mumbai. This role requires strong technical expertise, hands-on site experience, and the ability to drive a strong safety culture among employees, contractors, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Safety Planning & Implementation
- Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific safety plans, SOPs, and checklists.
- Ensure compliance with SHE policies and statutory safety requirements.
- Coordinate with project teams to ensure safe execution of all construction activities.
2. Site Inspections & Audits
- Conduct regular safety inspections, hazard identification, and risk assessments at all sites.
- Lead internal and external safety audits and follow up on corrective/preventive actions.
- Ensure all equipment, machinery, and tools meet safety standards.
3. Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain compliance with local, state, and national safety regulations.
- Prepare and maintain safety reports, incident logs, training records, and documentation.
- Support adherence to ISO 45001 and other relevant SHE certifications.
4. Incident Management
- Lead investigations of accidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions.
- Perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor closure of all incident reports and communicate findings to management.
5. Training & Safety Awareness
- Conduct safety orientation programs for new hires, contractors, and workers.
- Organize toolbox talks, safety drills, and safety awareness campaigns.
- Promote behavioral-based safety practices.
6. Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and site supervisors to ensure safety compliance.
- Assist in contractor safety evaluation and ensure adherence to safety standards.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities when required.
7. Emergency Preparedness
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans for project sites.
- Ensure availability of safety equipment and oversee emergency evacuation drills.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Diploma in Engineering or equivalent.
- Mandatory certification such as NEBOSH / IOSH / Diploma in Industrial Safety.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in construction, infrastructure, EPC, or industrial safety roles.
- Strong knowledge of Indian safety regulations and construction safety norms.
- Proven experience managing safety teams and controlling high-risk activities.
