As a Senior Risk Manager for Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) at Amazon, you will be at the forefront of our commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable business practices. You will lead North America compliance efforts across complex, multi-jurisdictional EPR regulatory landscapes - spanning waste streams including packaging, electronics, batteries, and textiles. This is a high-impact, cross-functional role where you will combine strategic thinking, data-driven analysis, and stakeholder leadership to develop innovative compliance solutions, drive cost optimization, and advance Amazon's circular economy vision.

Regulatory Strategy & Compliance
. Lead monitoring efforts for emerging EPR regulations and policy changes across North America, driving proactive advocacy for regulatory simplification
. Design comprehensive audit frameworks and risk-based audit plans to ensure full compliance with EPR obligations
. Leverage AI-driven tools and automation to enhance regulatory tracking and compliance workflows
Strategic Planning & Operational Excellence
. Lead strategic planning processes, including 3-Year Vision development and annual operational planning
. Establish and maintain robust performance metrics and KPIs, identifying trends and opportunities to elevate operational excellence across the EPR organization
. Orchestrate cross-functional business reviews (xBRs) to align stakeholders and drive accountability
Cost Optimization & Financial Impact
. Lead the development and execution of cost optimization strategies for EPR recycling fees, identifying innovative approaches to reduce overall financial impact while maintaining full regulatory compliance
. Conduct comprehensive data analysis to uncover cost-saving opportunities within EPR fee structures
. Spearhead smart eco-modulation initiatives, utilizing automated systems and AI tools to optimize packaging designs and material choices, with real-time tracking of fee implications across product categories
. Optimize operational costs associated with take-back services, including reverse logistics and recycling processes, through process improvements and strategic partnerships
Cross-Functional Integration & Decision Support
. Drive the integration of EPR costs into upstream business decisions by developing automated decision-support tools and AI-powered recommendation engines
. Enable real-time cost impact analysis for retail and Selling Partner teams during product selection, design, and pricing decisions
About the team
Our Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) team owns Amazon's global compliance strategy for EPR - ensuring adherence to post-consumer waste regulations across packaging, electronics, batteries, and textiles. Our vision is to enable circular economy value for Selling Partners, Vendors, and customers by connecting every product sold to verified recovery outcomes with clear, auditable results. We work cross-functionally with Legal, Business, Product, and Data Science/Engineering teams to deliver compliance programs at scale.
EPR is part of the broader Regulatory Intelligence, Safety and Compliance (RISC) organization, dedicated to protecting Amazon customers from products that are illegal, unsafe, or otherwise prohibited.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- 6+ years of program or project Management experience
- Experience in compliance, audit or risk management
- Experience building cross-functional partnerships and influencing stakeholders across the organization to act without having a direct reporting relationship
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification
- Experience leveraging technology and implementing lean principles / Six Sigma methodologies to drive process improvements or equivalent
- Master's degree or equivalent
- Experience working with Excel and large-scale data mining and reporting tools such as Python, SQL or Tableau
